Meet Jane Peart

Jane Peart has a lot of friends. You see, she considers all the characters in her writing her friends—and she has penned more than 20 novels and 250 short stories during her long and successful career. Jane had always wanted to be a writer, even when she was just a little girl growing up in Asheville, North Carolina. In fact, before she learned to read and write, she used to "draw" all her stories. Much later, Jane spent time as an advertising copywriter, and even wrote an advice column for a newspaper. But it wasn’t until she took a writing course at a junior college that she fully realized the potential of her writing.

During the 1950s, she began writing and selling short love stories. That success eventually led to the publication of her first novel in 1970. She sold the story, a general market gothic romance, based solely on an outline and first chapter. So when she learned of its acceptance, she panicked! As the mother of two small children, how would she find the time to actually write an entire book? As it turned out, Jane’s determination would overcome all odds. She wrote while her children were napping, and occasionally hired a high school student to babysit them. This early discipline actually paid off in the long run, too, helping Jane establish very methodical work habits. To this day, she begins precisely at 10:00 every morning, writing and researching until 5:00. The results of her commitment shine through in meticulously researched, finely crafted stories that have earned her critical acclaim and adoring fans. Library Journal said of her Victorian-era Edgecliff Manor Mysteries, "Peart fashions a lively historical romance involving faith, love, and hope from the pages of nineteenth-century governess novels like Jane Eyre. Highly recommended."

Some of Jane’s other popular historical novels include The Brides of Montclair Series, The American Quilt Series, The Westward Dreams Series, The Orphan Train West Series for young adults, and contributions to The International Romance Series--several of which have been or will be released in large print format. All of her books feature such rich detail, such realistic characters, that you’ll feel like you’ve actually been whisked away back in time to experience compelling stories of romance, adventure, and faith in God.

Jane earned her A.A. degree at The Elms, Massachusetts, and her B.A. at the University of Cincinnati. She and her husband, Ray, have been married for more than 34 years, and are the parents of two daughters. Jane and Ray make their home in McKinleyville, California, where the surrounding mountains, ocean, and redwood trees provide inspiration for both her paintings and her beloved novels.
