This is book is very well written,LOTS of twists and turn. I never knew what was going to happen next. I would recommend it for a teenager who has the understanding to know it is a fiction book. Not to dark or scary, but it kept me wanting more all the way to the end. I wonder if there will be a sequel.
Taylor and Ike's adventures were inspiring and quite scary. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting while waiting in line at college... I couldn't have picked a better book to entertain myself! Even though the characters were younger than me, I could easily relate to their hair-raising adventures and frequent brushes with death.
B. D. Eastman weaves a very convincing, thrilling and creepy storyworld together with everything we'd consider normal. And in the process, he takes us back a step from "reality" and helps us to appreciate everything we can't usually see. Mere days after reading this uplifting book, I nearly wrecked both my car and myself, but escaped all in one piece. Due to the miracle of my survival, I'd like to give a round of applause to people like Brock who can see that the reality of life is often not entirely "scientific" and that there is the higher reality of a God whose angels watch over us. Thank you God, and thank you Brock! Keep 'em coming!
This book is an awesome take on the battle of good vs evil. Not only that, it keeps the reader engaged in the story with action, and all sorts of fanciful inventions and gadgets. I really like how the Brock stepped out of the trend going around right now. And he even addresses this point too. Some of the popular movies and shows right now, portray were-wolfs and vampires as heros, but Brock takes a different angle with it. The demons in the book purposefully portray characteristics of these creatures:werewolves, vampires, abominable snowman and others. But more than the battle of good verses evil, this book shows the struggles of a christian boy whom is trying to battle these demons and forgets how important things like prayer and that God is there to help. He gets distracted by a girl, and ends up deceived by her trickery. Although the only downside to this book is that we have to wait till the next one comes out (next year) to find out what happens with Taylor, Ike, and their search for Taylor's dad. I'd recommend this book to anyone, but probably more so to 13+. Ages 10-12 would be able to read it, but I'm not sure they'd grasp the seriousness and reality of angels and demons. I finished this book within two days which is probably a record for me. Once I was started I just couldn't put it down. Great. Book.
