An eccentric best friend, a leaky Chihuahua, a teenager in trouble, and a workaholic husband with a gorgeous new colleague. Those are the ingredients for Diann Hunt's wise and funny story about growing...well, older...with grace.
Midlife isn't a crisis for Maggie Hayden until the day a former classmate fails to recognize her--and her world starts to spin out of control. With an empty nest, a body that's heading south (generating heat waves all the way), and a marital spark that seems to be sputtering, she knows she has to do something. But what? Exercise? Romantic dinners? Herbal supplements? A job? She tries them all, with mixed success-but nothing seems to squelch that underlying worry that her best days are behind her.
Can Maggie come to terms with her new life and learn to trust what she cannot see? Can she reclaim her marriage and find a new sense of purpose? Can she discover a miracle cure for the aging process?
Well, two out of three ain't bad!
And the fun of this particular journey is just the whipped cream on the double-shot mocha.
Margery Anderson5 Stars Out Of 5October 16, 2009Margery Anderson"Hot Flashes and Cold Cream" By Diann Hunt. This book is hilarious. It has all the things that every woman thinks when going through menapause about herself and husband. This is a good book for discussion in a "Book Club". I know you will get a kick out of it and learn so much.
Mary2 Stars Out Of 5August 26, 2008MaryAfter reading the reviews I ordered this book for the church library. I was disappointed, and did not find the laughter I'd hoped/expected to find. I agree with Pamela who wrote a review Feb. 07. It has redeeming qualities - Jade, for example - but I cannot give it top rating.
Debbie Marchione5 Stars Out Of 5August 25, 2008Debbie MarchioneI love Diann Hunt! She is absolutely wonderful. Although this book comes before "Hot Tropics and Cold Feet", you really don't have to read them in order. The characters in this book are so relatable, and fun. I enjoyed this book so much and I highly recommend it.
Shontell Bell5 Stars Out Of 5August 7, 2008Shontell BellVery good book about how we women tend to perceive ourselves as we grow older and also how we over sometimes make "mountains out of molehills" in our lives.Starts a little slow, but definitely ends up a good read!
Janet5 Stars Out Of 5July 20, 2007JanetI highly recommend reading this book. I laughed out loud which drove my husband nuts as he didn't have a clue. I'm currently reading HOT TROPICS AND COLD FEET. The adventures of Lily, Louise, Jill and Maggie fill my reading time with joy.I so hope Diann Hunt continues to write this series.
