Horizon's Penmanship teaches not only the basics of proper penmanship, but also incorporates scripture through weekly Bible verses. Themed chapters bring an element of fun with outer space and biblical illustrations. Children practice handwriting through writing out weekly verses. Grade 1 covers manuscript writing; Students begin by tracing and free-writing individual letters and short words to longer sentences. Bordered sheets are included. 199 pages, softcover, Grade 1.

This seems like a good program for practicing letters. I got Grade 1 for both my children, even though they are two years apart. I feel that my older child, a son, needs the extra practice before moving on to cursive. Both children enjoy the program. We put on some classical music while they practice. The lessons are very short; I like the brevity because I want them to go slowly and make the letters really well-formed. My children like the brevity because they are typical children!!

SUPER for our son! He LOVES Rockets and so really seems ready to keep his letters in 'rocket' form a bit more.
