The complaints we would have is that it moves slowly for her at this stage in math BUT coming from a mastery approach to a spiral approach the review concepts have been wonderfully appreciated. The lessons are a great length. She loves that they are very age appropriate too. I enjoy that for the first time in several years she likes her math book!

momto5Age: 25-34Gender: female2 Stars Out Of 5DisappointedOctober 1, 2013momto5Age: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1I've used Horizons Math the last two years with my oldest child and the only complaint I had was the poor teacher's manual. This year I am very disappointed with it. Yes, there are fun puzzles and its colorful, however, I feel the material moves very slow in the first book. I understand reviewing needs to take place, but being on a fourth grade level, my child doesn't need help reviewing things like basic addition facts or odd/even. She should be reviewing geometric measurements and multiplication/division. We've worked our way more than halfway through the first book in 3 weeks time. My child is begging to learn something new, which halfway through the first book hasn't happened yet.

It is colorful, clear, and thorough! A new teaching is introduced daily, and each day previous teachings are reviewed! Also, this program allows children to work alone if they are capable of doing so. Love this program!
homeschoolmom24AlabamaAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Very disappointed!January 8, 2013homeschoolmom24AlabamaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1I have used Horizons Math for my boys up to this point. But next year we will definitely change. If you are like me and have several children working on several different grade levels of math you don't have the time to go back and research how to do certain math problems when your child needs help. Horizons beginning in 4th grade math have left out how to reach a certain conclusion to the problem out. So when you need to know how they arrived at the answer. You are given the answer only or answers will vary. I'm very disappointed so next year we will make a change.
