If you're been thinking about working from home, this is a must-have book. Anything and everything you need to know is included in the pages. There are chapters on setting up a business, marketing, client relations, and how to balance your job with family and friends. The authors also give personal examples from their own life that show the reader how they dealt with issues that came along. There was so much great information in this book, I wish I'd picked it up sooner! So You Want to be a Work at Home Mom is the perfect place to start to gather information about how to start a home-based carreer, and it's a useful guide to those already working at home who could use some tips to make things work smoother. Highly recommended!

What a neat and useful tool this book is. Many different audiences can benefit from parts of this text for instance if you are like me considering the idea of a home-based business or for others who have already taken the leap. Authors Jill Hart and Diana Ennen kindly and with great tips guide the reader into specifics of what will be needed from a person to run a business from home, various types of businesses. All throughout they focus on faith and family first and talk about the difficulties but the benefits if you are successful. I am entirely grateful that I read this one as it gave me several ideas to file. After much prayer and consideration this is one that I'll come back to, to read some of the chapters with more deliberation and goal focus. I highly recommend this.

There were two things that I felt when I read this book. One was "oh I wish I had had this resource when I was starting out 25 years ago" and "oh my, that's a good idea I'll do that next". In other words, this book is appropriate for women starting a business or is involved in a successful business but needs some new update ideas. The writing is good, clear, well thought out, easy to understand. The chapters cover everything from how to determine if working at home is for you or just a wish, what kind of businesses are available, and if you have a web site presence, what to do and how to get it noticed, and to have an exit strategy if you need to get out of it. These ladies have successful at-home businesses so they actually know what they are talking about. That makes an enormous difference in the quality of the information and tips. As they point out, men may have great business ideas but they don't understand that you won't get anywhere phoning a woman during nursing time. They point out that it's important to turn off the phone, close the door and have family time. After all, that's why you want to work at home. There's even a page listing things that a home office requires and that buying them when school supplies are on sale is a great idea. As you can tell, I loved the book and gave it 5 stars.

Although I've been a freelance writer and conference speaker for more than 13 years, I still found helpful information in this book. Of course when I started, the internet and social network sites weren't available, so reading this contemporary book gave me fresh ideas and new leads. I'm grateful these authors recognize the value of moms and of moms who want to stay at home with their children while contributing to the family's income. It's a tough challenge that isn't right for every woman, but for those with the grit and determination, this book walks them step-by-step through the process of being contented and professional with a home-based business. All I can say is; wish I would've had this valuable tome when I launched my vertical learning curve to a home-based business.

Author/Artist Review

Author: Jill Hart
Located in: Omaha, Nebraska
Submitted: September 02, 2009

Tell us a little about yourself.  Jill Hart is the founder of Christian Work at Home Moms, CWAHM.com. She graduated from Grace University with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development/Family Studies and Bible. Jill has worked from home since 2000 and started her own home-based business to assist other Christians who desire to work from home while maintaining a godly life. Jill and her husband, Allen of CWAHD.com (Christian Work at Home Dads) reside in Nebraska with their two children.

What was your motivation behind this project?  Diana and I wanted a way to put our knowledge and experience into the hands of other moms. Our websites help us connect with our wonderful audience, but we also want to connect with women who may not spend a lot of time online.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  We hope that this book will encourage and inspire other women and also give them the practical help that we both wish we'd had when we started!

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  This book has been so much fun to work on. Putting it together helped revitalize my vision for my business and now I have a great tool to use when helping other moms begin and build their businesses.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I LOVE to read. One of my favorite authors is Liz Curtis Higgs. I've had the pleasure of interviewing Liz a number of times of The CWAHM Network and she is just as gracious and amazing as she comes across in her writing! Another favorite of mine is Sharon Hinck. She is such a strong woman who doesn't give up - just like the moms she writes about. I could go on and on. :)

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Thank you for taking the time to read this little blurb about me. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about working from home!
