Home Art Studio homeschool art curriculum DVDs are designed to increase students' love and appreciation for the visual arts while providing an opportunity to improve their abilities to problem-solve, think creatively, and express themselves artistically. Art history lessons are also integrated throughout, as well as cross-curricular suggestions for math and social studies. Students are introduced to drawing, painting, and sculpting, while lessons emphasize how art is everywhere.
Just one lesson per week will allow you to complete the program in less than a year. You simply need to provide the supplies! Lesson plan PDF documents are included on the DVD-ROM to help teachers make the most of each lesson-time. Easy-to-follow lessons are age-appropriate and concepts are reinforced in later grades; students may work at their own pace without any fear of falling behind. This program is perfect for parents who don't have a lot of art experience, but who want to ensure that their children receive a well-rounded arts education.
Fourth graders will create fun and challenging projects that focus on principles of radial design, one point perspective drawing, and adding shadows and highlights to create more realistic images.
91 minutes on DVD-ROM. Grade 4.

Taverlee5 Stars Out Of 5Home Art StudioMarch 20, 2015TaverleeQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Any of the DVD's in this series are excellent. It's like bringing an art teacher into your home to run a lesson. We watch the lesson through once. Then watch it again, pausing after each step, so the children can work at what they have just seen. Easy to source art materials are used. There is a PDF on each disc, so you can look at all the lessons ahead of time and work out their aims, and check that you have the resources available before you start.

The "teacher", Ms. Volin, is sweet, creative and articulate. She is easy to understand and follow along on the DVD. Lots of great projects that kids could do with minimal assistance from me. I highly recommend this series of art DVDs. Well worth the money!

We are almost halfway through the projects of the 4th grade DVD and my son really enjoys them. He often begs to do two projects a week!
I am thankful he can do the program independently while I work with one of his siblings on something else during our school day. He watches the DVD project and pauses it as he works.
He has surprised himself (and me) with his art ability. He's received a lot of nice compliments on his artwork from family and friends. They are in awe of what a 4th grader can produce!
I'm pleased with the art concepts he's learned so far and has occasionally mentioned art works he sees when we are out of the house. For example, we were at a nearby university and saw art done all in shades of blue, he said it was "monochromatic" after doing his winter birch project that was done in various gray shades.
The DVD can play in your computer which allows access to the PDF files of each art project. I used it when we first started to make a master list of all the supplies I needed, but didn't feel the need to print out each project. The supplies were easy to find and the few I had to buy were fairly inexpensive at our local arts/crafts store.
I found it helpful to me to purchase the supplies for the entire year so they are ready and waiting for when your child needs them. It's really helped our art run smoothly this year.
If you're looking to add art to your homeschool or just have a child who enjoys doing art in their free time, I highly recommend these DVDs!
