I am Thankful for the Teaching of R.C. Sproul
R.C. Sproul, founder of Ligonier Ministries, says that The Holiness of God is what he recommends first when people ask him what Ligonier book they should use to help them grow. Jerry Bridges, author of The Pursuit of Holiness, says, "Every Christian who is serious about his or her growth needs to read The Holiness of God." I say that I should listened to this nine hour audiobook years ago. This 240 page work was first published by Tyndale House in 1984 and is considered a modern classic on the subject of God's holy character. You will find KJV, NKJV, NASB, and NIV Bible verses throughout the 11 chapters. Some of the chapter titles include The Holy Grail, The Insanity of Luther, God in the Hands of Angry Sinners, War and Peace with a Holy God, and Holy Justice. In these 11 chapters Sproul gives us the proper perspective on God's awesome holiness. He reminds us that God is to be feared and revered and not treated simply as our buddy. Each chapter begins with a quote, and a few questions are provided at the end of each chapter. If you read Sproul's foundational piece, hopefully you will develop a stronger hunger to be holy like God.

Very thoughtful and life changing
The book changed my perspective of God. Prior to reading this book I think my perspective was somewhat off-base mainly seeing God through the "lense" of the New Testament (God of love, forgiveness, redemption, reconciliation, etc.). This book gave me a broader, more complete view of God. This book open my eyes to the fact that God is in addition to the attributes listed above also holy (transcendent), righteous and will judge sinful people. I'm not sure if I can explain this properly but before we need a saviour we must realize we offended a holy God. If we don't realize we've offended such an awesome God our appreciation for Jesus is diminished. But if we realize we offended a holy God and this holy God provided a way for us to be forgiven, justified, etc. I think you appreciate Jesus and your salvation much more. My next book I'm reading is Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul. Thank you.

very good teachings we need more pastors like R.C. Sproul it lets us know how holy God is and the standard we need to live up to

This book has many great insights to the Holiness of God. I thought RC spent a little too much time on the life of Martin Luther, which I thought caused him to drift from the topic. Aside from that, the information was very uplifting.
