Wylie was clearly one of the greatest historians who has ever lived. This book, which is one part of a much larger work, The History Of Protestantism, gives the history of the oldest group of Christians, which in fact date back to the Apostles many believe, the Waldenses. Their history is one of faithfulness to Christ and opposition to Antichrist who, they as well as all other Protestants, believed rightly to be the Roman Pontiff (Pope). The greatest part of this book deals with the wicked apostate Roman Church attempting slaughter them and shows their success in persevering through the abominations of the crusades and inquisitions which were carried out against them by the wicked Papal armies. Foxe's Book Of Martyrs shows the murders carried out by the Papal Church and the way in which the Christians died during the dark reign of the Papacy. The History Of The Waldenses shows how Christians lived during this time under the stress of Papal persecution.
