Covering well-known breeds, including Arabs, Thoroughbreds, Morgans, Lipizaners, and others, this course was designed around a collection of separate, read-aloud resources. Using a notebooking approach, students will add reports they've written, drawings, Bible memory verses, glossary words, and other elements into their own personal notebooks. Lesson instructions provide instruction on what chapters to read in the individual books, directions on what activities to complete, a study question(s), and student notebook instructions. 26 pages, softcover.
This course takes one year to complete at the rate of three lessons per week. Primary/Intermediate grade level.

Kathy5 Stars Out Of 5A Literature Approach to Equine HistoryJune 15, 2012KathyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This summer for my own enrichment I decided to do "History of the Horse." History of the Horse is authored by home school graduate, Hilary Severson. History of the Horse is based on the teachings of British educator, Charlotte Mason as described in Susan Schaeffer Macaulay's book "For the Children's Sake." The study covers equine history using the texts "The Handbook of Horses" and "Album of Horses" alongside "How to Draw 50 Horses." "Living books" such as "Black Beauty, King of the Wind, Misty of Chincoteague and Black Stallion" are the backbone of the curriculum. Notebooking is incorporated into each lesson so at the end of the year your student will have a hand made book of what they have studied.
Overall I have been pleased with the scope/sequence of this study.
Our family looks forward to continuing our journey through history with Beautiful Feet Books.
