ssgcarter5 Stars Out Of 5History of the Jewish People in the time of Jesus ChristJuly 7, 2015ssgcarterQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I initially purchased this set for reference only, but as I browse through the first book I intend on reading and studying the entire set. I am really interested in church history and books like this set will definitely give me a better concept of life back then, which will allow me to better understand the Scriptures.
otis5 Stars Out Of 5highly recommendedJune 18, 2015otisQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Has a lot of useful information, when cross referenced with other materials. It especially seems it was designed this way with the first volume being a reference source to other materials
Bob Wadholm4 Stars Out Of 5A Helpful ResourceMarch 27, 2015Bob WadholmQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This set of five volumes is a great resource, and provides an interesting late 19th century view on sources, persons and events among the Jewish people in the first century.
thomas5 Stars Out Of 5a history of the jewish people in the time of jesus christOctober 24, 2014thomasQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5at first I could not understand the 'five book set' with first and second divisions, but once I got that, I started reading volume I first division, I didn't understand it, it was nothing but reference to other books and documents. I have a 1,215 book library [all religious theology & growing], and I have the full set of the Babylonian Talmud, [ I purchased from CBD a few years ago] and it is very difficult to look up anything in this set, but I can now do it okay. anyway, I put that book up and started reading volume II first division, and its great. I am well satisfied and happy I bought this set, and at a very good savings also.

Q: Does this set include the apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha or just commentary on them?
No, this set doesn't include the full apocrypha and pseudepigraha. They are each referenced within the historical narrative.
Q: Is the the revised and edited edition or a reprint of the original? Is the the revised and edited edition or a reprint of the original?Schurer's original work was revised and edited in 1979 by Geza Vermes, Fergus Millar and Martin Goodman. So i was wondering if this was merely a reprint of the original (c.1885-1891) or the recent revised English translation by Vermes, Millar and Goodman?
This particular edition is Schurer's original work and was not edited by Vermes, Millar, or Goodman,
