My 8 year old daughter was mersmerized by the story and the pictures. We read a few pages at a time as bed time story, and she loved the story so much that she rushed to get ready for bed so that we had ample time to complete a chapter each time. She voluntarily followed through the bible reading suggestions and prayers. The illustrations made sense to her as an 8 year old. She began memorising bible verses, talks about prayer, secret place with God.
I have read and reread the full version of this book since becoming a disciple of the Good Shepherd 28 years ago. I am really looking forward to reading this children's version to my Granddaughter when she is a little older.
This product is my "go to" item when new Christians are having trouble "getting into the Word". It appeals to the child in all of us and it is a non-threatening introduction to learning about Jesus through the intimacy of easy reading. I keep a new copy on my shelf and have had great results giving this beautifully simple gift. I still enjoy reading my first copy :).
We have been using this as a morning devotional for our 6 and almost 4 year old. We only read a few pages at a time, but they have really been enjoying it, especially the 6 year old. It is a great way to see how to practically apply the truths of who God is and who we are as His children. So many of the lessons Much-Afraid learns can be applied directly to our kids' lives right away. My husband and I are blessed and challenged as we read it to our kids too!
