Patti SheneSoutheastern ColoradoAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A fast-paced suspenseful storyFebruary 24, 2014Patti SheneSoutheastern ColoradoAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I had a difficult time reading this book. The reason? The thought of crawling through caves really creeps me out! Yet, despite my aversion to the underground, I felt compelled to find out what was going to happen to Jennifer and Lee.
When these two brilliant people discover a cyber-terrorism plot that jeopardizes US defense systems, they are forced to flee for their lives. The author paints a vivid picture of his gorgeous, yet tough, Japanese-Hawaiian heroine and his formidable, competent hero as they dodge and outsmart the terrorists while discovering an undeniable romantic attraction.
The plot is fast-paced with a lot of suspense. Not only do Lee and Jennifer have to flee for their lives, they have consequences to face when they do reach safety due to some of the choices they have made.
The faith message is woven throughout the story as Lee introduces agnostic Jennifer to the love and power of God. Without preachiness, these characters relate to each other in a realistic manner on the issue of beliefs.
Henry Wegley brings his many years of experience in the IT industry and his studies of Christian apologetics to his novel. He has done a good job of presenting a story to the intelligent community that reflects the Christian faith while providing an enjoyable romantic thriller.
The best thing about this book? There's a whole series, so we get to enjoy even more suspenseful adventures with Jennifer and Lee!

The government has a problem. It has been infected with a Trojan virus that stole top-secret files. Now the hunt begins as the terrorists do not want them to succeed and chase them using chase them using weapons, highly technical equipment and explosives. "Hide And Seek" is a thriller as both Lee and Jennifer's lives are in great danger as they try to stay ahead of those that want them dead and still manage to stop them and the virus. I am so glad I found this very talented author and am looking forward to his next book.

Yes, she's that pretty.
Jennifer Akihira is incredibly intelligent and knows this hopeless idiot probably won't be much help as she tries to eject the Trojan and find the culprit or culprits.
That's before the bad guys begin to chase them. With guns. And with highly technical equipment. And explosives.

GingerS2194 Stars Out Of 5Exciting readFebruary 11, 2013GingerS219Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Wow! What an exciting book. The first chapter or so had some difficult to read technical computer stuff, but if you read past it--it's only in a few paragraphs, not throughout the novel--the story really comes alive and pulls you along for a heart-stopping ride.
Hide and Seek by H.L. Wegley is a definite keeper if you love suspense with a touch of romance. :)

Tell us a little about yourself. I served in the USAF first as an Intelligence Analyst, then as a Weather Officer. I'm a Meteorologist who worked many years as a Research Scientist in Atmospheric Physics. After earning an advanced degree in Computer Science, I served as a Systems Programmer at Boeing before retiring in the Seattle area, where my wife and I enjoy small-group ministry, our seven grandchildren, and where I pursue my love of writing.
What was your motivation behind this project? Hide and Seek was my first novel. In it I attempted to weave some of my interesting work experiences into a thriller told from a Christian worldview. This project was, to some degree, an experiment to determine how God wanted me to spend my retirement years. I feel confident that He answered my questions, and I've now written six novels in the past two and a half years.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Hide and Seek is a story of first love and redemption. Through the brilliant heroine, it illustrates that regardless of a persons intellect, most barriers to faith are the heart-rending, existential questions, not intellectual objections. The story emphasizes that all such questions are answered in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As Christians we want our lives to positively impact others. This requires us to be both vulnerable and genuine. When we write stories, we cannot do it well without also being vulnerable. While letting others read my early drafts of Hide and Seek, I learned that being an author was going to make me feel vulnerable, exposed to the world. This was an unexpected form of accountability that writing imposed on me, the need to be genuine. If I'm authentic, I don't have to fear what's revealed about me in my writing. I may need to be corrected from time to time, but that is a good thing.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My writing style is a bit like Tim Downs and I really enjoy his books. I've learned a lot about writing for women readers from Lynette Eason, Margaret Daley, Christy Barritt, and DiAnn Mills.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: The same God who revealed Himself to us in stories gives us the privilege of revealing Him to others in our stories. I thank Him for that privilege and pray that I will never take it lightly or misuse it.
