Known during the Civil War as the "Angel of the Battlefield," remarkable Clara Barton risked everything to save countless lives on the frontlines of battle. Once a painfully timid child, Clara was as bold as a lion when it came to helping others, whether wayward schoolboys, natural-disaster victims, or dying soldiers.
For ages 10 and up.

Kristin Strickler5 Stars Out Of 5March 11, 2009Kristin StricklerVery exciting, page-turning book! Lots of facts, but, very interesting too. My daughter has a new Christian hero which was my goal. A great choice for a school book report! I'd recommend this book to every parent I know for their children!
Gail Allen4 Stars Out Of 5July 2, 2008Gail AllenLike all of the Autobiographies written by Janet and Geoff Benge, this book was well written and packs massive amounts of information in a fast paced, page turning narrative. It was hard to believe that Clara Barton, a painfully shy and withdrawn child and teenager accomplished so much in her lifetime! All because she was tenacious, had faith and never gave up. She was splendid in character and used love and kindness as a way to get things done. There were also detailed information about the battles in the Civil War that I appreciated. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
