barbjan10Arlington, TXAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A READY HELP FOR THOSE THAT HAVE LOST A JOB!!October 12, 2013barbjan10Arlington, TXAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What's happening to steady employment in this nation? Is it this way all over the world? Having just read this inspiring book, and attempting to research statistics on layoffs and unemployment claims during 2012, I became literally sickened at seeing the percentages and numbers for approximately 6 months. This layoff situation has happened personally to me, as well as other members of my family. The devastation hits everywhere, with no mercy, no comfort. However_Mary Kaarto has written with compassionate understanding of the hurt and fear during these critical experiences in "Help for the Laid Off."
Recently my daughter was laid off and to date is still unemployed. It was no coincidence that author Mary Kaarto requested concurrently that I read and write a review on "Help for the Laid Off." That is what I call a "Godincidence." After reading the book, I handed it to my daughter to read and learn the spiritual tools Mary used through the hardships of forced unemployment. Ms Kaarto experienced bewildered struggling through two layoffs until she felt the mercy of our Lord pouring grace on her situation. She takes no credit for what she wrote in this book, she gives it all to the Lord.
Having a personal relationship with God is the key component to "making it through" this tough period of time without employment. Ms Kaarto's wisdom of scripture in God's Word is entirely spiritual in providing evidence that God desires one to trust in Him. We don't understand our dilemma as God does, and perhaps this setback is a part of His way to guiding you down a different path. Ms. Kaarto encourages us to seek and pray for God's will to turn our situation in a positive direction. The sage old advice of creating a full time job out of seeking a job still stands during this time.
Mary Kaarto shares rapport and priceless information she learned during her job search that will give the job seeker hope instead of dread. Fore mostly, she places eager emphasis multiple times to convey that the laid off are not alone in this quandary. To know that others share your situation and that God loves you is comforting. This writing has given my daughter peace and solutions to the long wait until her next job; as well as deepening her relationship with the Lord. It is always beneficial to seek God for all answers during any situation. Ms Mary Kaarto's writing is very worthwhile and a ready help to those that feel they have lost more than just a job. Praise the Lord for knowing this book was needed before my daughter did. Thank you, Mary Kaarto!
DFreemanAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5What a blessingNovember 30, 2010DFreemanAge: 45-54Gender: female"It is a blessing from God for you to share your testimony to the world about your past. Reading this book is like having a close friend sitting down with me, praying and encouraging me. There have been some days when it seems like there is no hope, but reading what you have been through and to see what God has done in your life has encouraged me. How He has brought you through it all and how you continue to trust in Him. I knew my God would do what He said He would do, but being patient is sometimes hard to do. Trying hard to find a job and being torn down time after time gets to you, and makes you think nobody cares about you. Thanks to you for being bold and sharing your experience with me. I really enjoyed reading your book."

Diane Dike, PhD5 Stars Out Of 5November 15, 2009Diane Dike, PhDHELP for the LAID OFF by Mary Aucoin Kaarto is the right book at just the right time. In light of recent events it has become more urgent than ever to be ready for the challenges life can bring. HELP for the LAID OFF is the best of God's word, direction and help in 144 pages. I'm recommending this book to all my laid-off friends and clients. God allowed this challenge in Mary's life because He knew He could trust her to create a tool that would bring hope to many as well as help them find God in the midst of their trial. God has a purpose and plan no matter what and this book leads one to realize the full potential of that.

Tell us a little about yourself. I have been an active follower of Jesus Christ since 1994, when He became very real to me during my first layoff. My 15+ year editorial career covered oil & gas/energy and healthcare industries, in addition to writing on a freelance basis for the Houston Chronicle and other local magazines. God blessed me with an amazing husband after 16 years of enjoying life as a single. My daughter made me a "Nammy" over two years ago to the world's most adorable granddaughter.
What was your motivation behind this project? Experiencing two layoffs totaling nearly four years, all as a single mother, allowed me to see for myself that God is Who He says He is, and that He is faithful, trustworthy and will always take care of me. Always. Please read marykaarto.com for more information on how the this book came into existence.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? That if they haven't already done so, to put their faith & trust in Jesus Christ as the source of all they need in this life. There is absolutely, joyful and meaningful life to be lived in spite of a layoff. And, if they respond to their layoff God's way, He will bring something very, very good from it.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? If you want to know the truth, I was terrified when God initially answered my prayers on why I was allowed to undergo a layoff, AGAIN. I argued with Him that I'm not smart enough, spiritual enough, etc., but thankfully He never gave up on me. Once I calmed down and decided to cooperate with Him - in spite of my tremendous fear - the writing fell out onto the screen. I knew, I FELT Him writing it, through me. There's no way I could have come up with this on my own.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? God and His Word, Walk in the Word Ministry, Joyce Meyer Ministry, InTouch Ministry. Drs. Ed Young and James DeLoach(Second Baptist Church), Karen Kingsbury, Francine Rivers.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Please - I'm begging you - to believe in and trust God in spite of how you may be feeling, or how bleak your circumstances are. You cannot go wrong in entering into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have been through hell, at least the closest thing I can imagine to being hell, and not only thrived during the experiences but learned to rest in such a peaceful state, while doing so. I am now able to comfort others the way God has comforted me, and I speak/write from personal experiences rather than some feel-good, hope-it's-true theology. You cannot tell me that God isn't real, not after all I've been through.
