Publisher's Description

A thriller unlike any you have ever read. A love strong enough to bring a tremor to your bones. A sacrifice powerful enough to make heaven weep.

At the close of World War II, a shell-shocked solider, Jan Jovic, was forced to inflict a game of life and death on a peaceful Bosnian community. In a few short hours, this young man was confronted by more love--and hate--than most experience in a lifetime.

Years later, Jan has become a world-renown writer with widespread influence in the Unitd States. His past buried deep in his memory. Until at the most inopportune times, the game witnessed by Jan haunts him...and unwittingly leads him to a beautiful but broken women caught in an underworld of crime.

He now must defeat an evil rarely seen. But there is a price. One that even this war-scarred solider can't imagine.

This book was one of the worst books I have ever read. I get that Jan's love for Helen in the story was a metaphor for Christ's love for us, but it was poorly written. More often than not, Jan seemed like a wimp and a man in heat. It didnt seem genuine love, but lust. The book was overly romantic, and I thought it was a poor representation of God's love for us. I do not recommend this book to anyone. DONT GET IT, IT ISNT WORTH IT!!!

This was an awesome book. It really made me think about Christ's love for me and how my sins hurt him. An excellent read!!

I reordered this book to replace the one I loaned to a friend and never got back! This is the strongest story in the trilogy (but all three books are worth the read.) I couldn't put this book down the first time I read it - and found nuances I had missed the second time. This is the complete story that "Martyr's Song" comes from. If you read "Martyr's Song," I urge you to read this one - it fills in the story and makes it come to new life within the complete setting as it was originally written by Ted Dekker.

This was my first experience with a Dekker novel. When Heaven Weeps is a story that, all too often, grows old and less precious to the Christian. Dekker, however, manages to refresh the concept of grace and undeserved love masterfully. I found myself unable to continue reading several times due to the emotional response this novel evokes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be on the lookout for more of Ted Dekker's work.

The whole Martyrs song series is amazing but this book, more than anything I've ever read conveys a glimpse into how we are loved by our Creator. Unconditionally and obsessively! Thank you Mr. Dekker, you have stirred coals that were starting to fade...
