This book is a complete revision of Dr. Mark Laaser's best-selling book, Faithful and True. Things have changed a lot in ten years, when the original edition was published, including in the area of sexual addition. Since then, internet pornography has become the number one form of sexual addiction. With pornography so readily available, maintaining a wholesome, biblical sexuality seems hopelessly beyond reach. Deeply ingrained patterns of thought and behavior keep people stuck on a treadmill of sin, even as they long for a walk of purity. This book offers a path that leads beyond compulsive thoughts and behaviors toward sexual integrity, and self-control. Sensitive to the shame of sexual addiction without minimizing its sinfulness, Dr. Laaser traces the roots of sexual addiction in families and in culture, shows how sexual sin poisons the lives of pastors and laypeople alike. He provides a complete program for treatment and recovery from sexual addiction, including the all-pervasive internet pornography.
A former sex addict himself, Dr. Mark Laaser offers help and hope for regaining and maintaining sexual integrity, self-control, and wholesome, biblical sexuality.
"A must read for anyone who has a sexual addiction. Pastors, counselors, and lay leaders will also greatly benefit from it

This book is heavy on the psychological aspect of what's going on with sexual addiction. It also delves into some of the darkest corners of the subject matter. If you or your loved one is dealing with porn only then there are probably better books for you. But if it's full fledged sexual addiction along with severe acting out then this book may be helpful.

Dr. Lasser's book is a must read for those that are serious about their desire to begin or boost their recovery from the grips of sexual addiction. I especially found the chapters on family roles and rules to help me identify triggers for my behaviors. Dr. Laaser points out that although these triggers are identified, we as adults are responsible for out actions and choices and ultimately the consequences. The entire book is written from a Biblical context and weaves scripture into appropriate psychology. I highly recommend this for addicts and their spouses...and friends who care to know and support your recovery.
