In his groundbreaking book fifteen years ago, Gordon Dalbey identified the fact that men's souls have been torn between strength and sensitivity. Today, the situation is even worse. The politically correct crowd cries out for men to be more sensitive, to tame their masculine nature. On the opposing side, the media bombards men with "macho" images of violence and lust. Is it any wonder men are left bewildered about who they should be?
In this newly revised and updated edition of Healing the Masculine Soul, Dalbey claims that there's hope for restoration, hope for healing-because Christ has come to heal us. God is calling men out to a relationship with Himself and calling them out to authentic manhood. "Our task is not to curse our manhood, but to redeem it," he writes.
Gordon Dalbey's refreshing, comprehensive picture of God's design for the masculine soul dares men to be as God created them to be-not as society demands. Dalbey tackles the tough issues, including work, sexuality, marriage, and fatherhood.
Book includes Study Guide.

His ministry has had a life changing effect on me personally. The men in our study group at church are growing and sharing together each week. This book helps bring up discussion points that get our sharing going. We use the study questions at the rear of the book. As I have come in contact with other men, I have been able to give away 16 copies to interested men and sharing ideas with them. I recently started a second group to study the book with 2 teachers that I work with. I have learned to experience the great love of our Father God like never before in my life at age 60, having accepted Christ at age 8.
Moving OnAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Good BeginningNovember 15, 2010Moving OnAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Thank you for keeping it real Gordon. I bought this book after listening to a radio program. As I was reading this book it help me to understand my many roles as a man. The reading was easy and the content very comprehensive. I have taken small portions of the book at a time and put them into action. My life as well as my family have all seem to gain spiritually from my new understanding of God's expectation of me as a spirite filled man. This is a great read-a-long to the bible.
David R. Bess4 Stars Out Of 5December 4, 2005David R. BessWhen I first started reading this title, I thought it would be little more than a lengthy discourse on meaningless psycho-babble regarding men and their many emotional shortcomings. It began slowly, but as I continued following the author's progression of thought, I understood that many of his concepts and ideas ring true. While he is a little too light on Scripture and a little too heavy on psychological theory, he still makes many good points for Christian men in today's society. There are helpful insights here -- it will prove to be a good read for many Christian men.
chris roe5 Stars Out Of 5November 30, 2004chris roeA pioneering book in the Men's Movement now updated. Gordon takes men where we must go. However, it is the place most difficult to go to...the beginning. This is not a book full of exhortations toward more principled living. It is definitely not the 7 Habits of Highly Effective or Defective Christians. It is a book that goes deep, but is quite readable. It is a book that takes us back to the love of THE FATHER. He speaks of the power that Godly instruction has AFTER an encounter with The Living God. Without that encounter, without knowing that Daddy, Abba, loves you, his ways seem burdensome. But when we come to know The Father's love, we follow because we see He has our best interest at heart. I love this book. Gordon's message was also integral in John Eldrege's process of writing Wild @ Heart. A must read for all men.
