This is an excellent Bible
I am very happy with my Bible! I love it's size and weight for carrying back and forth to church, meetings, bible studies etc! I have my HCSB Study Bible for at home but this is great for a new believer or carrying! I will never again buy a bible without a thumb index! It's great! Highly recommend!!

This is a pretty good translation, but of course we must keep in mind that it is not a literal translation, but in fact a partial word-for-word and partial thought-for-thought (aka. paraphrase).The NASB is much more literal, and the ACV even more so (although the ACV is only translated from the Byzantine Majority Text, which means it has some odd differences in a few places).Personally, I find the NET (New English Translation) Bible to be a better paraphrase than the HCSB, but the HCSB is still very good, and I love the slim genuine leather version.In the end I will stick to my NASB (1977 Edition) Thompson Chain Reference Bible, as I much prefer the accuracy, but I will never regret having purchased the HCSB. The HCSB would be especially good for young readers (I would believe it is on a Middle School reading level), so it is worth having a copy in case you ever have a youth who is struggling with understanding something that is more literal.

This is a good overall bible. Very good for bringing to church because of its size. I expected it to be bigger because of large text but it is not. HCSB Translation is very good.And the 2 color thumb index tabs (black for ot and red for nt) is clever and helpful. I also like the foot notes at the bottom that tell you what other manuscripts say as well as giving a 2nd literal translation at times. It also makes a good second translation for when I am studying with my NASB. It appears to be well made too.I took off 1 star because this bible does not have book introductions.

This is the perfect Bible in my opinion. It is not too bulky to carry around, the print is easy to see. I love the translation, the tabs, the red-letter edition, the maps in the back, the concordanceand I really appreciate having Old Testament prophecies that show up in the New Testament in bold print. I have recommended it to my friends, and also it is such a good price! And it is beautiful, as well.
