Love this format of the HCSB! Buy it! Read it! You'll understand the scriptures better!

The HCSB is absolutely my favorite translation of the scriptures into modern language. It is a very good compromise between original meaning and understandability. They just made it better with this release. One of my major frustrations every time I read through the scriptures is how timelines jump around. You have to switch mental gears when you go from one to the other and it throws you off to the point to where you want to throw up your hands in frustration. The reading experience is not as understandable and enjoyable as it could be. This Bible has fixed that. Great intro of each different "Act" that takes you through the scriptures to explain that it is indeed one cohesive story. Then the great HCSB translation makes reading a joy. Now after the glowing recommendations I would like to suggest that they bring this out in a more traditional Bible format. Please, give us a flexible cover other than paperback. I personally don't like holding a hardback either. Give us a imitation or better yet nice leather cover (please no bonded leather). Now for a personal gripe. I am getting a bit long in tooth and i like a font size larger than 9 point. Please give us a 10 or more. I wish HCSB would use a better font itself and one that is bolder than what they typically use. I love the hand sized HCSB Bibles they make. Perfect size just wish the type which is large enough were bolder. Bolder type makes up for bleed through. However, the excellent value of these two current versions are hard to argue with. Real bargain priced. To me this version is a keeper and I would like a nicer format. Love it but please give us improved versions. Great job Holman.
In general, I like this chronological Bible. I have the digital version as well as the hardback. I am disappointed that the digital version does not have an index like the hardback does. I haven't tried reading it in my tablet yet, but using FBReader under Linux, I'm not able to search for specific passages of scripture, so an index would have been very helpful.
Enjoying So Far...Wish It Was Available in Genuine Leather
April 27, 2015
I'm enjoying this Bible so far. I've just begun reading it and have gotten as far as Jacob in the book of Genesis. This Bible reads almost like a novel. The words haven't changed, just the format. I would have much preferred the Bible in genuine leather though. Hopefully, one will come out in the future.
I have appreciated reading this chronological Bible. As a long time Bible reader, I have wanted one like this for quite a while, just to help my understanding of the timelines. I have liked the IPAD version because I can take it with me and adjust the font. The only thing I don't like, is that I cannot mark where I am. It says, "Check here when you complete the days reading" but nothing checks. Thankfully, when I open it, it opens to the correct place. However, I would like to be able to actually know where I am. I also really like that it is laid out by day and week, not by month. So I could start it as soon as I got it and not wait until January.
