I like the HCSB translation. I corrects a ton of the errors translators made in the KJV. It is not literal word for word translation but it is very good. It is not politically correct in making the masculine terms all gender neutral. Such as all references to men become "people" or "person" instead of what it was meant to be. It corrects things like "Easter" in the KJV when it was actually "Passover." I like this. It reads very well and makes even some of the kind of dry chapters readable and enjoyable. I like the HCSB.

Now for the package. I love this size Bible. They call this the Personal Size but it is Hand sized. It is about the size of a paper back book and it reads like one. The leather is nice but I don't like the fact that it is just in that kind of drab brown. More colors and make them richer HCSB! But it really feels nice in your hand.

Now for the one complaint. Make the Bible about 1/4" wider and get the type away from the gutter. It is really close and you have to do Bible Yoga to flatten the Bible out enough to read it. The other smaller problem is the ribbon is really not wide enough and thin. I replaced the ribbon with a thicker and wider one to actually use.

All in all though for the bucks you can't beat this Bible. I bought three. I know I will wear the first one out and want back ups in case they stop making this nice Bible.

overall the bible was well constructed. however, i find "bleed thru" ink pages very irritating to the eyes. this bible needed better quality paper to eliminate that. if bleed thru is not an issue for you, this would be a great bible!

If you need a HCSB this price is a deal [I speak of the leather-touch, not the genuine leather edition]. Red letter, legible easy to read ink [both colors], font nice size for a Personal edition and just the right size (I am 6'2" with large hands and Bible is easy to hold and read). Pages are not too thin and all in all a good travel edition. Notes on bottom give variant readings. KJV has all the text but this edition is close and worth owning.

I am really enjoying this version for a change from my NIV. I like it better for just reading. I is not heavy so I can easily take it back & forth from home to Bible Study. Like the red letters when Jesus talks as well
