I'm reading through the Bible Genesis to Revelation (in John now). I finally understand it: clear accurate translation, explanations on how the individual book fits into the scheme of the whole Bible and how passages fit into the whole individual book. Everything helps immensely!!!!!
For the first time I can understand the whole Bible!!!!
I have an imperfect one but haven't found the imperfection in it. Unless it's occasional red dots on pages.
I love this Bible. It is easy to read and understand. It is beautiful on the outside. I feel that I have really equipped myself with a wonderful study bible. I am confident that I will become a workman that need not be ashamed of explaining or giving an answer of what I believe.
I purchased the paperback version a while back and was so disappointed with the font & the physical quality that I gave it away without spending much time with it. This study Bible is vastly different and is equal to my other three study Bibles in physical quality and in font size.
If you are new to apologetics or to Christ, I would rather recommend the ESV, NLT, NIV study Bibles for the theology. Learn about God first. You can get plenty of great apologetics books that systematically teach this subject. That said, this study Bible is for anybody that teaches apologetics or Sunday school or has a solid understanding of the Bible. This study Bible can be a great addition to your reading and study of apologetics. Another category of potential user is a disciple who is in contact with pagans or cultist like Mormons. This study Bible goes in depth in explaining Scripture that is taken out of context or twisted.
Regarding the articles, they are written very well and not dumb-down for lack of a better word. The notes are very interesting and I keep learning new things I didn't know. Academically, this is wonderfully written.
This is my first HCSB Bible and I'm impressed with the translation. I sometimes read parts of the OT in NLT but found that the NLT is sometimes vastly different that my ESV. Not so with the HCSB-it is a very modern English version that is similar to more literal translations. I still prefer the flow of the ESV and how it captures the genre, but the HCSB is solid and more suitable for public reading.
My only complaint is that I prefer burgundy color to black but that is a petty complaint. After rejecting the paperback version, I am very impressed on this product. Well done.
