Product DescriptionAre you seeking true love, joy and peace? Millions of Americans have turned to books on prayer in hopes of attaining God's favor and wonderful blessings. In this book, Jonathan Niemeyer now takes us beyond prayer to Christian living through a practical application of Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the Spirit. Mr. Niemeyer contends that God, although He obviously invites us and even instructs us to come before Him in prayer, is also keenly interested in how we live our lives when not praying. He maintains that two simple verses of Paul's letter to the Galatians hold phenomenal promise for those of us who truly employ the fuit of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control--in our relationships with God, our spouses, our children, our friends and our neighbors. Faithfully applying the fruit of the Spirit to our lives is much easier said than done, but the rewards--pure love, joy and peace--can be everlasting!

Located in: Cincinnati, Ohio Submitted: May 29, 2002 Tell us a little about yourself. Jonathan Niemeyer is an attorney for a midwestern corporation and lives in Cincinnati with his wife and two children. Mr. Niemeyer has been published in legal and sports related publications, and this is his first Christian book. What was your motivation behind this project? Due to the "Jabez phenomenon", many may now think that the secret to eternal life is praying to God to be personally blessed, and praying to God to enlarge their territories. However, as followers of Christ know, although the Prayer of Jabez may be a useful prayer tool, the true key to salvation and to closeness with God is not the prayer of a little known Old Testament figure. If Jabez's prayer holds the signficance placed on it by Bruce Wilkinson, why did Jesus not mention Jabez even once during his 30 plus years on this earth? Instead of focusing on a simple prayer, Harvesting Spiritual Fruit is based solidly on Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the spirit -- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control -- and on dozens of other references to scripture which relate to and bolster this significant passage of Paul's letter to the Galatians. In September 2001, my daughter, in kindergarten at a Christian elementary school, was charged with memorizing Galatians 5:22-23 as her scripture verse of the entire year. As my wife and I helped our daughter to memorize this crucial passage, an idea was born, which has now made its way into print. Hopefully, Harvesting Spiritual Fruit will be as convicting for you as a reader as it was for me in writing it. Good luck and God Bless! Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Max Lucado, Lee Strobel, Stormie Omartian and Patrick Morley. Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: "Mr. Niemeyer focuses on the everyday practicality of [Galatians 5:22-23] in a personal style that feels as though he is speaking directly to you."
