Chunky board shaped book

My Happy Pumpkin is a cute little fall book for preschool age and beginner readers. The book is a hard chunky shaped cardboard just right for little hands to hold. The pictures are bright, bold and colorful; very beautifully illustrated. Easy rhyming words for beginner readers to read as well. I have seen this pumpkin story in adult form. My Happy Pumpkin is written with the same message only in little tyke terms. A wonderful tool to teach youngsters how to let God's love shine through. What I liked is there was no mention of Halloween in the book.
I was sent a free copy of this book by Thomas Nelson in exchange for my honest review.
My Happy Pumpkin is a really sweet children's book about the growing of a pumpkin, and then carving it. It has some great correlations to our lives, how God cleans out our insides and how the light within shines thru our faces. I have often used an object lesson close to Halloween that shows this to kids. This book will be a great addition to that to reinforce and remind kids of some meaningful Biblical truths.
There is no mention of Halloween in this book, which may be important to some people who steer away from anything to do with that holiday. But it would be fairly obvious to most about the correlation.
The cut out shape of this book and the beautiful artwork are just the icing on the beautiful words cake of this book. If anyone is looking for a beautiful fall gift for some kids, this would be it. I would recommend it for kids under age 8-10.
Small children will eagerly open this pumpkin-shaped board book to discover the delightful story and colorful illustrations, by artist Claudine Gevry. Using sing-song rhyme, author Crystal Bowman describes a fun fall tradition carving a pumpkin face. But she adds a twist that helps preschoolers grasp the concept of God s life-changing love for them. Just like we scoop out all the slop found inside a pumpkin, God makes us clean on the inside too."
About the Author:
Crystal Bowman loves writing books for kids. Her books come in all shapes and sizes and many of them have become best sellers. Whether her stories are written in playful rhythm and rhyme, or short sentences for beginning readers, she tries to make them so enjoyable that kids will want to read them over and over again. "But the most important part," she says, "is to teach children that God loves them and cares about them very much."
You can find Claudine diving the oceans with Technicolor fish, camel riding in the Sahara, trekking in a jungle populated with wild monkeys, or exploring the African savanna in search of huge elephants. Although adventurous, she sometimes gets scared when coming upon a giant spider or other scary beasts. At that time she heads back to the comfort of her studio, where she draws all the wonderful things she saw and dreams of her next visit to faraway lands.
If you are looking for a bright, special, sweet children's book that will teach your young children ages 2-4 the love of Jesus then look for books written by this special lady, Crystal Bowman. I have read and reviewed her books before and I even own a few, my children love them so much. So much so that they are sweetly loved with tattered edges and all. She has a heart for teaching children about God's love and it shows in her writing. If I can only be half the writer she is then I will be utterly amazed.
This book takes the art of carving a pumpkin and compares it to how our Heavenly Father scoops all the yucky, nasty sin out of our lives to rid us of all of that and make us a new creature in Him. Its a poem style read with rhyming prose included. It also has rich, full color illustrations that are breathtakingly beautiful.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Book Look.
