What does a man need most from his wife? Arlene Pellicane, author of 31 Days to a Younger You, asked numerous husbands that question. Based on their answers, Pellicane identified five keys that will give wives a new appreciation and understanding of how to love and care for their mates.
- Domestic tranquility A husband needs a peaceful haven.
- Respect A husband needs to be honored in his home.
- Eros A husband needs a fulfilling sex life.
- Attraction A husband needs to be attracted to his wife.
- Mutual activities A husband needs to have fun with his wife.
Along with identifying a husband's needs, Pellicane provides practical instruction to motivate and equip wives to show their husbands the care and affection they long for. Every day a wife is either building her husband up or tearing him down. This book offers wives a 31-day, no holding back, life-changing building program for their marriages.
IreneUnited States5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent book!August 3, 2012IreneUnited StatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The concept of this book intrigued me. Is it possible to figure out what makes a happy husband? Well the author of this book decided she would try and I think she has written some pretty simple steps wives can take to improve their marriage.
According to this author there are 5 key areas that help make a husband happy. Two of these keys are peace in the home and respect. The other three areas are just as important but you will have to read the book to see what they are! Peace in the home is important because a man needs a safe place. Home should be the place he can come to and keep his guard down and relax. Respect is another important area. A husband wants to feel honored and his thoughts heard. Respecting his decisions will make him feel like an important partner in the marriage. The author does great at explaining her reasoning behind these keys and the other three as well.
I found the book to have plenty of helpful information. I felt the key to the book was found in the introduction when the author reminds wives that every day you are either building your husband up or tearing him down. If you really think about that principle your marriage will change for the better. I liked how the book could be read alone, with your spouse or even in a study group. I thought the authors writing style made the book very easy to read. The chapters flowed from one section to the next flawlessly. I gave this book 5/5 stars because I think every wife can learn from one if not all of these keys and help improve their marriage.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
Booklover105 Stars Out Of 5All wives need to take 31 days to apply these!April 11, 2012Booklover10Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book was a delight to read. Because I was reviewing it, I chose to read it in sections and am going back to apply the daily lessons. This book was refreshing because it gave me practical ideas of how to make my husband happier. It's simple things, really. Things such as creating a peaceful atmosphere for them when they come home for work or even finding out what means a lot to them to have ready for them when they step through the doors. Some men like dinner on the table, some want a little bit of quiet, etc.
The thing that has stuck with me the most is when she talked about those things that our husbands do that annoy us. Things like coffee cups on the counter, toilet seat up, dishes in the sink, etc. She gave an example of using that as a reminder to pray for them throughout the day. I loved that! The next time my husband forgets where the dishwasher is located, I told him that I would stop and pray for him instead of getting frustrated at his lack of GPS skills! He told me he'd do the same the next time he passed a full laundry basket filled with clean clothes! What a wonderful way to take something negative and turn it into something positive.
This book would be a great book for all married women to read! Our husbands need a woman behind them that can build them up and help them as they go throughout their stressful days. Take 31 days to show your husband just how much you love him. It's just 31 days. Take the challenge.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange of my honest opinion.
