This was an excellent beginning to what looks like a great book series (Deep Haven). The characters are relateable & the story is excellent. I found it hard to put this book down. Looking forward to reading all the books of this series along with other books by Susan May Warren in the future.
Happily Ever After is the first book in the Deep Haven Series by Susan May Warren.
Mona has had a dream to start a bookstore. She has worked and saved for years and has purchased an old Victorian house in Deep Haven, Minnesota that is in terrible shape. She only has a few weeks to get the house repaired to open her bookstore. The job is too much for her and her friend Liza but Mona cannot afford to hire the repairs done. She hires Joe as a handyman and has him live in the apartment above the garage. Joe treasures his privacy and has many secrets he does not willing share. In the beginning a lot of things happen to slow down and almost cancel the bookstore. But with God's help the bookstore, Footsteps to Heaven Bookstore and Coffee Shop, is able to open on time.
I love this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I love the Minnesota North Shore area and can hear the waves crashing against the shore line as I read this book.
I've become a Susan May Warren fan. Love the way Warren develops spiritual growth in her characters and puts Biblical principles and values into practice in her stories. This book - first in the Deep Haven series - is a good read!
Loved this book! Then again I love pretty much all of Susan May Warren's books. Happily Ever After shows how God works in each persons life through different trials and that we should always rely on God and not let fear overcome us. And, of course, you can't help but fall in love with Joe and Mona!! 5 stars!!!!
