Once again Focus on the Family presents a useful tool for the Christian community. The book is written in pertinent and unambiguous language, honest and compassionate, never dodging the issues. Handbook on Thriving as an Adoptive Family holds the interest of and provides needed information for a wide range of readers: those involved in adoption, teachers, pastors, students, people who want to learn more. It will find a welcome place in many libraries, private and public, secular and religious. I am not an adoptive parent but reading and reviewing this book has been a most pleasurable and profitable experience for me. Handbook on Thriving as an Adoptive Family is for all who want their horizons broadened. The individual memoirs included to illustrate the subjects will remain in your mind and heart for a long time. Jen MGeneva, ALAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent, practical adviceFebruary 10, 2012Jen MGeneva, ALAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We are adopting 2 brothers from US foster care and have completed the 30 hour state required training- but this book is what we really needed. We must look at these children and ourselves as God looks at us. This book gives real examples of success as well as perseverance and patience to help us show the love and acceptance we have in Christ to a child. It also helps us judge success as a parent and the success of our children through God's eyes rather than worldly standards.
