Product Description

Half-Saxon, half-Dane, Cynwulf lives apart in a wrecked Viking ship, a misfit. When his battle-axe is found in the skull of a prominent Anglo-Saxon, Cynwulf must clear his name-or face the vengeance of the community.

Living under constant threat from murdering Vikings, the Northumbrian Anglo-Saxon community and the monks at the Benedictine Abbey discover that the real threat to their existence lurks within the gate. Half-bred Saxon and Dane, Cynwulf lives apart in a dwelling made from a salvaged Viking ship, a misfit in the community. Life is hard in 8th century England, but Cynwulf dreams of living it with the fair Haeddi. But he has rivals determined to bar him from the union. All hope seems lost for Cynwulf when his battle-axe is found in the skull of a prominent member of the Anglo-Saxon Mead Hall. With the aid of Godwine, the mangled monk, Cynwulf must clear his name-or face the vengeance of the community.

Editorial Reviews

What could be better than an intriguing mystery, a little romance, and a short sojourn to a place and time that’s little known and less understood? Douglas Bond shines a light on the past in a way that’s as entertaining as it is informative.
"Lost? I was, but in a good way. You'll be so immersed in Doug Bond's story-telling that when you flip the the last page it'll be hard to pull yourself back to reality? Hand of Vengeance is an amazing tale of intrigue and adventure you won't want to miss."

First off, I must say I have loved and read every book that Douglas Bond has put out. Until I read this one.

I was very disgusted and surprised with the R rated content in this book. Wrapped in a charming and very exciting story is a tangle of graphic mass murder and lust. Mr. Bond doesn't even try to tone any of this down either. Everything is right there up front, from the axe-in-the-skull murder to the sensual experience of a man when he touches a gorgeous woman for the first time. This is one of those books that went straight from my hand into the Goodwill box. I felt kind of weirdly dirty after reading it, and I am somewhat nervous to buy Douglas Bond's next book.

I have enjoyed all of Douglas Bond's books, but I especially loved this one. I love the gentle hero in the book. It is full of excitement and suspense, but also has a gentle feel to it. I really hope he writes more in this series. Read all of Douglas Bond's books. You won't be sorry.

I did not get this book free! I paid for it with my own money and I would buy it again if I lost it!
