Earlier this spring, we completed the study of Esther by Beth Moore, so I was very much excited to read this book. It's a fictional account of the story of Esther, told from Esther's point of view, in the form of a narrative letter written by Esther to a Jewish girl named Leah, a Queen Candidate for another Persian King after the death of Xerxes. The beginning of the book takes place in the present where some modern day characters are introduced, but they really don't play much of a role in this book--it's more significant in the sequel, The Hadassah Covenant which I'm currently reading. I really enjoyed "Hadassah: One Night with the King" because it gave perspective to some of the details of the Esther story that I found puzzling, so even though it is a work of fiction, I thought it definitely stayed true to the story as told in scripture and added a level of richness in detail to the story that vividly brought the reader into Esther's life. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in reading about the life of Esther.

i loved this book .very good read for little money! sometimes it is hard to relate to having being ruled by a king who can take your life in an instant. this is well done and it gives me greater love and insight into my heavenly father and the power and love he possesses for believers. challanges me to go deeper with god.

I just finished Beth Moore's study of Esther with my Bible study group, and read this book following that. It was a great followup read, definitely recommend. I've always loved the book of Esther.

One of the most exciting book I've read. The follow-up book was equally exciting. It was such a good book, I bought the movie based on this novel. Wonderful, too. I'm ready to read another book by these same authors - a book about Ruth. My daughter said it was excellent read. I'm looking forward to that one as well.

I was really surprised by how cruel the people were in that age and time, especially when they took 500 young boys to the castle and made them eunuchs by castrating them. I had never read of that before. It is really people behaving so cruelly to behead and kill. You really need a good stomach to read this or curiosity. I did enjoy the book, because I am so curious. I now want to see the movie.

Hadasseh, One Night With the King, was one of the best books I have read. I took it on vacation with me, and literally could not put it down. Keep in mind, it is a novel, but the telling of Esther's story was so well done, I had to get out my Bible to read her account there. I also rented the movie, which wasn't at all like the book. This book was so much better! A definite read!!!
