When schoolteacher Jodi Winfield goes for a morning run, the last thing she expects is to find a disheveled little girl all alone on the side of the Pennsylvania road, clad only in her undergarments, her chubby cheeks streaked with tears. Jodi takes the preschooler home with her, intending to find out where she belongs. But Jodi is mystified when no one seems to know of a missing child, and the girl herself is no help, since she can't speak a word of English. It's as if the child appeared out of nowhere.
As the days pass, Jodi becomes increasingly attached to the mysterious girl, yet she is no closer to learning her identity. Then an unexpected opportunity brings Jodi to Hickory Hollow--and into the cloistered world of the Lancaster Old Order Amish. Might the answers lie there?

WandaDallas TXAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Best ValueJune 10, 2013WandaDallas TXAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I collect all the Amish genre books that I read, so I needed The Guardian by Beverly Lewis for The Hickory Hollow series, but they were like $15 to $20, but I received the book much lower that that. The value for your dollar was great, as well as the other books I purchased at that time...
Its About Time MamawCleveland, TexasAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The GuardianJune 6, 2013Its About Time MamawCleveland, TexasAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Jodi Winfield is a teacher taking a little break while house sitting. She finds the area beautiful and she is looking forward to an early morning jog. It is dawn as she sets out and to her shock she finds a little girl curled up asleep under a tree off the side of the road. The child is dirty and and under dressed. She is not really sure what she should do first.
Jodi finds herself in the middle of an Amish Community. It was as if she had been taken back to a different time. The local Amish were welcoming to her and their lifestyle intriguing. She just can't seem to get enough of their company. She finds even more appealing to her is their trust, hope and faith in God which started a peaceful healing in herself.
I found this story so moving. It has been some time since I have had to keep a box of tissue by me while reading a book. The author has a way of reaching deep into your heart stirring your emotions. One of my favorite characters was Maryanna Esh it seemed the author had given her a strength that could only come from God. She also had an abundance of patience! I found that waiting on book three had been well worth the wait. Looking forward to reading book four of Home to Hickory Hollow, THE SECRET KEEPER.
I highly recommend this book.
