In this delightful and very personal book, the four oldest Duggar girls share their hearts and their core beliefs, explaining that it’s all about relationships!
• Relationship with self: The girls share their own personal journeys to self-acceptance and navigating the difficult stage of adolescence.
• Relationship with parents: You’ll find revelations about how Jim Bob and Michelle keep the lines of communication open with their children.
• Relationships with siblings: Here, you’ll get a peek into the Buddy system, how the siblings handle conflict, and how the loss of little Jubilee (their sister) affected their relationships with each other.
• Relationships with friends: You’ll find principles on how the Duggar kids deal with peer pressure and how they interact with friends outside their family.
• Relationships with boys: You’ll learn the Duggar view of dating and courtship, and these four sisters will address the often-asked question of when one of them will get married.
• Relationship with God: And woven throughout the book, the girls talk about their most important relationship of all—their relationship with God and their own personal faith and beliefs.
This candid look into what Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger believe and why they believe it will give you practical insights into your own life and will inspire you to evaluate principles that will work for you.

I loved Growing Up Duggar! It gave great insight on courting especially. Being a young lady myself that was really helpful. The other relationships discussed i.e. parents, siblings, yourself really inspired me! All in all it was an excellent read!

I have watched the Duggars since they began. I have read the other books from the Duggars, but I was interested to see how the young adults would write about their lives. As I read, I saw how this would be a great tool for mom's to give to their young daughters and then read themselves to give open points to talk about with what they are dealing with. I think it would be good for a youth group to use for a young women's bible study.
I have really enjoyed reading this book. It is a hard back book with the picture on the surrounding paper. Underneath it is blue hardback book w/o pictures. I would had preffered it to be on the book since I have young kids that might tear up the pictures, but I will plan on keeping this book to use with my daughter!

Like many people I've watched Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger Duggar grow up on TV. In fact I live fairly close to them and have even had the privilege of meeting and interacting with them in person. When their new book, Growing Up Duggar: It's All About RELATIONSHIPS was offered to me to review I accepted it with pleasure.
As an older married woman I found the book very interesting, but I have to be honest and say that I really think it is geared towards young women. The point of view they share, in my view, would more readily appeal to that age group.
With candor and honesty they each share about some of their most intimate relationships that not only include their family and friends, but most importantly the God they love. The stories are interspersed with pictures of the family enjoying each other through the years.
Included in the book is also a short interview type section with the girls' older brother Josh and his wife Anna. They discuss their courtship from how it came about to the requirements that were lovingly imposed on them and to their eventual wedding. I thought this section and whole chapter on the differences between dating and courtship was very revealing about how the Duggars raise and value their children.
I enjoyed reading about the girls' thoughts and perspectives on such a wide variety of topics. If you have watched them on their series or if you have just wondered about their everyday life and values I think you will really enjoy reading this book.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

The Duggar family is well known from the show 19 Kids and Counting on TLC. They are known for their conservative beliefs and lifestyle that often seem strange to much of America. The four oldest girls wrote a book answering a lot of the questions they have gotten about what it is like to grow up in such a large family, why they live differently than much of the world around them, and what it means to be a Duggar.
As the title says, it’s all about relationships. So the girls have broken up the book into eight chapters, each about a different relationship with parents, siblings, guys, the world and more. Each chapter shares the family’s core values and shares personal stories about how they live out these values.
While I grew up in a conservative home, it was not as conservative as the Duggars. But I certainly see the value in their core values and how they live them out. Things like not having a TV, monitoring the internet usage, and even choosing courtship over dating are counter cultural but they are have proven to be the solid foundation that have made the Duggars they family they are today.
After reading this book, I have been encouraged in my own core values and have been given hope for my own future and my family. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how the Duggars live, or even put into practice some of these Biblical core beliefs.
I received this book from Howard books for the purpose of this review.

The four oldest Duggar girls (from TLC's 19 Kids and Counting) have recently released their own book, Growing Up Duggar: It's All About Relationships.
If you're looking to see if Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger will reveal shocking secrets from the mega household (they do mention their mom Michelle's battle with an eating disorder in high school which was something I didn't know), you'll be disappointed. No, I've never met them nor do I think they are perfect (as they themselves readily admit), but I believe the life you see the Duggars live on tv is pretty close to their real life. Just like their camera appearances, the girls share in their book honestly, yet humbly, the biblical convictions on the standards they have come to hold.
In this case, they've focused their book on relationships – from the Lord first and foremost, which then effects all other relationships: from yourself to parents to siblings to culture to guys.
Although written primarily to teenage girls, with personal stories from each girl of their own struggles and victories, I was challenged as a mom in my own attitudes and habits, as well as areas my husband and I can do better in the raising of our own young children.
Trying to remember my teenage days (wow, that was a long time ago!), I realize most girls will want to see what the Duggar girls have to say about guys and dating. Not everyone will hold to their idea of 'courtship,' but having safeguards for accountability for that 'dating' time of life is very important. Godliness and purity starts in your heart and mind long before a guy ever comes around...
"Dad has asked us girls, 'What kind of girl do you think a godly guy will be attracted to?'
"The answer is, a godly girl. That's what he and Mom are continually encouraging each of us girls to become. We know that a godly girl is not someone who has lived a 'perfect' life but is someone who has received God's forgiveness and is seeking to put the past behind her and choosing to live every day for Him (page 115)."
"It's also crucial for Christian gals to understand that we cannot conform our patterns to a thoughtless lifestyle and still expect to somehow marry a godly prince. We need to always keep in mind that if we desire to marry a godly man, then we must strive to become the kind of godly girl a godly man will be attracted to. God desires to see us grow in character and live by His principles, and for us to have a strong relationship with Him – which is the best foundation and preparation any of us can make for a future marriage relationship (page 140)."
I especially liked their reasons for 'dates' at home. Never gave much thought to watching a guy react to your little sibling spilling milk in his lap or your rambunctious brother being loud and noisy... anyone can be on their best behavior during a dinner out on the town, but character is often revealed during the chaotic 'everyday' moments!
I expected Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger's book to be a rehash of their parents' previous two books, just told from the kids' perspective, but I was pleasantly surprised. Although these girls' convictions may not match yours, their humility is evident and their challenge is clear: Jesus first, others second, you last.
