Fantastic Text for High Schoolers
March 1, 2011
Ive been a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years and have struggled finding texts that are Biblically Solid, Relevant to High Schoolers, and Focuses on Practical Application.
I've found that many "youth" books are geared to middle schoolers and miss the boat on what high school juniors and seniors are really going through.
This book is focused on the kids that have grown up in church all their lives and makes them realize there are benefits and dangers because of that. The book challenges young people to realize they are prone to 1) thinking they are Christian - when they arent even saved 2) taking God's grace for granted 3) living double lives.
It also encourages them to make personal convictions about what they believe.
High schoolers need to decide what they believe and what boundaries they'll set up before they enter the confusing and spiritually challenging world of college. This book helps them work through it. Definately recommended.
I also recommend the Seven Checkpoints by Andy Stanley..
