Not As Christian-Based As You're Led To Believe About two years ago, following the devistating loss of my beloved canine child, I selected this book souly based on its Christian-themed table of contents. After having read it though, I contacted Christian Book.com to inform them the writer at times blurs the line between Christianity and other religions. Since this book is still available today on this website, please consider this review should you decide to purchase this book. July 4, 2012

I lost my husband in January and my daughter stood beside me and held me up during his funeral. Three months later, she lost her beloved Lakota, a beautiful lab/shepard mix whom she rescued. She had her for twelve years and where my daughter went, Lakota went with her. My husband's love for me and our life was the same way. He had a stroke the second year of our life together, though short, I took him everywhere. Lakota was my daughter's companion, confidante, comfort and her treasured friend. The book helped her to allow herself to grieve over her pet as I am grieving for my Beloved. It's the same pain; the same longing; the same sadness of missing someone you loved. It's helped her to allow her feelings to surface as our society doesn't recognize the love one has for their pets. Lakota died of advanced cancer of the lungs, heart and spleen and she was forced to put her down, a terribly traumatic happening. As a sudden and unexpected death was to occur, my daughter began her grieving before Lakota actually died. A book of this nature can transform the reader into accepting the grieving of this loss as one that needs to happen in order to begin to live life without someone you depended on for all of your companion needs. There aren't many books out there about losing a pet with a Christian perspective. All of loss is in God's Hands and we are unable to go through this loss without Him. I recommend it for anyone who has lost a beloved pet. May 29, 2010

When my friend had to make the decision to put her dog, Buddy, "down" because of advanced cancer, I wasn't sure how to answer her questions "Do animals go to heaven?" "Will I see my dog in heaven when I get there?" This book is very resourceful, comforting, and encouraging in dealing with these very questions. The book is compassionately well-written. June 4, 2007

I don't know how I would have survived the death of my beloved ginger tabby cat, my friend of 20 years, without this fine book. It is sensitive and helpful.Thanks to this book, I DID survive and move on to a new relationship with another feline friend (the book covers this topic, too). Thank you Betty Carmack. February 5, 2007
