Teach your students the biblical narrative from Genesis to Ruth (including Job). Written at a second-grade level, The Old Testament presents an unfolding narrative of God's faithfulness to his people, while the overarching Old Testament themes are presented in simple weekly stories. Students will also learn how the Old Testament stories begin to point us to the coming Savior, Jesus Christ.
The text contains thirty two chapters (one per week) and divided into five themed units. Before the week's story, each chapter opens with a Memory Page that includes a weekly memory verse, a Key Facts chart, and vocabulary to remember. A thought-provoking "Who is God?" question will encourage children to consider what they are learning about Him and how to relate to Him in their own lives. Each chapter also contains a worksheet and a quiz. A review chapter at the end of each unit summarizes the material and provides extra puzzles and activities. 238 pages, softcover. Grades 2-6. Pages are consumable and not reproducible.

Nic5 Stars Out Of 5love!February 21, 2015NicQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We changed to this for Bible this year since my daughter wasn't loving our past bible curriculums. She is in 3rd grade this year and I feel this was a perfect age to switch to this. If she were any younger she might not grasp some of it. I'm so glad we found this. She LOVES it and looks forward to it everyday. I did get the teacher guide but I seldom use it. I do, however, like the little side notes it offers. Sometimes we will talk about those together but as far as the answer keys I don't feel it's necessary. There are no suggestions on teaching it (by days, etc) so we worked it out this way:
day 1- discuss memory page and do the suggested bible reading together
day 2- read the summary
day 3- re-read the summary and do worksheet pages
day 4- go back over memory page and do the quiz orally
sometimes we do a day 5- a craft that I've searched out to go with whatever chapter we are on.
This has worked well for us so far and we plan on continuing this next year and on to get through OT2 and both NT books. Plus the price is awesome! Very affordable!

I love how it connects the old testament with the new. My daughter looks forward to it each day.
Homeschool Mom of 5Age: 35-44Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Bible CurriculumJanuary 21, 2015Homeschool Mom of 5Age: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had to take the time to review this product. I'm very impressed with this curriculum. My son is a very analytical, nuts and bolts type of kid. This is a perfect match for him. Let me go through some aspects of the curriculum that may be helpful for others:
The teacher's guide doesn't break the days up for you per chapter, but here's how we break it up:
Day 1: First page of the chapter (introductory with terms and basic ideas, themes, etc)
Read the Bible passage suggested for the chapter. I usually use the audio Bible on biblegateway.com so
that my son can hear and read the passage and can go at his own pace, pausing if he needs to.
Day 2: Read the summary of the passages covered by the chapter. I like this because first, you read it directly
from God's Word, then the student reads a recap in terms more familiar for them. This isn't dummied
down at all though - they learn Latin terms and more. Also, there's a box in every chapter explaining how
this section of the Old Testament points to Christ. The summary is 2-3 pages.
Day 3: I have my son read the summary again, then do the review workbook pages - usually 2 pages.
Day 4: Chapter Quiz
Every 5 or so chapters there is a review chapter. This chapter recaps what has been gone over and gears the students up for what's ahead.
There are several notes in the teacher's guide that are nice to have - it really digs deeper, and sometimes, I have used what it says to create a deeper discussion.
I think my son has learned so much - and going over this again in this way has been great for me too! I plan to do Old Testament II next year and New Testament the following year.
Just FYI, my son is 9 years old and in 3rd grade. In my opinion, that was a great age to start. I probably wouldn't start this curriculum any younger than that.
TracyF1 Stars Out Of 5Version 1.1 is printed on newsprintSeptember 3, 2014TracyFQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I have loved this series with my older children, so reordered for my younger. The new version is such poor quality paper I could never recommend the books, nor will I order more. Pencil makes a distracting imprint thought the page to the next (and the one after that!), and pen is worse. An eraser removes the text and illustrations with only a little effort. I am very disappointed.
I really like the content and format. Please reprint on the original quality paper.

My 5 year old loves the stories in here. The questions, worksheets, quizzes, and memory verses really help him retain the info we cover each week. He even asks questions that I have to look up myself to find the answers! It gets him thinking :)
Q: Does each student need his/her own book, or are the pages reproducible?
This is the student text/workbook and cannot be reproduced without written permission from the publisher.
