Joyce Rogers is the widow of renowned Baptist minister Adrian Rogers (1931-2005). A loving mother and homemaker, she has also written many inspirational books and lives near Memphis, Tennessee.

Dear Friends:

This book is about a journeya journey through the fog experienced by the widow. Having experienced this journey, I want to share with other widows the assurance that this fog will lift and that the piercing ache in the heart will diminish.

I want to point other widows to their greatest source of comfort and strengththe living and written Word of God. I want to share some timeless truths that have guided me through this darkest night of my soul. I want to point them to some of the names of God that will strengthen their faith and help them to pray in faith, beginning with Jehovah SaboathGods special name for widows, which means the LORD of Hosts, Who will fight my battles for me. (Isaiah 54:5)

Life is so mundane and daily, so I want to also give some practical pointers for dealing with the daily round of life as the widow journeys through the fog. I want to share about help for financial, friendship and health needs.

I have been there. Ive cried out to God, Help me, help me. And He did. Ive asked the question, Who am I now that he is gone? I want to share with others the help that Jesus can be today and the hope He will give for tomorrowthat He is sufficient for all their needs, if they only trust Him.

Ive been to the grave and I know he isnt there. I want to share how others can learn to live by faith in a real worlda world in which things dont always turn out the way we wish.

Yes, I want to introduce them to the One, Who was my Guide through the fog of lossthe LORD Jesus Christ. I want to assure them that if they hold on to His hand, He will guide them through the fog.

This group of women are so needy! I have found this help and hope in Jesus Christ. I want them to know this too.

Recommend highly for any widow This is an excellent book for any grieving person, especially a widow. The 'fog' she talks about is exactly what I have experienced; her recommendations about scriptures and the comfort and peace they bring are so true. July 5, 2012

Not what I expected This is the first book by Joyce Rogers that I've read and somehow expected it to be like her late husband's preaching. I was expecting more of a "widow's guide to starting over" than what she wrote. She includes a lot of Scripture which is wonderful but I can read Scripture without buying her book. The content, other than the Scriptures. was disappointing and really nothing new from what I've already read in other places. The cover and binding are very attractive and inspiring - not so much the content. October 14, 2011

I hopped in my car and caught a few brief moments of a radio-interview with Mrs. Rogers regarding this book a few years ago. Her words stuck like superglue to me. I intended to buy this immediately, however, many months passed and then the news came of a dear friend who's husband went to be with the LORD. I didn't have time to read this, but I knew I had to get this book in her hands immediately. I struggled w/the concern of the timing of such a gift, but I prayed God would use Mrs. Joyce's words to encourage my friend, as much as Dr. Adrian's messages have encouraged me through the years. I did buy a copy for my own library and it is a treasured tool that I continually use to encourage. Even though I have not walked this path, I found it to be an excellent book to PREPARE women before entering such a storm in their life. p.s. My friend was sooo thankful; and, she has recently purchased this book to encourage other friends... -- An excellent book of Godly wisdom, comfort and hope for your walk! May 3, 2010

This book was very helpful to me. I also appreciated the fact that she took the time to talk about taking care of her own health, and offered easy ways to do that. My husband suffered for 7 years before he went home to be with the Lord, and during that time he was treated by conventional and naturopathic doctors. We gained much knowledge throughout those years of how to eat, etc. But during my greif, I could not think about eating those foods. It was good to read that I needed to take care of myself again too and that it was okay for me to continue to eat that way. I especially enjoyed the practical and healthy meal ideas for one. It was also helpful to know that I may need to make myself reach out to friends and get out more. All of these tips help to avoid depression, which is so common during grief. February 12, 2010
