Give to someone starting breast cancer journey
September 28, 2012
I bought this book for my mom when she started her breast cancer journey. When she was finished with treatment, I asked her what was helpful for her during her journey that I could do for others who I come in contact with who are starting the breast cancer journey themselves....she said "give them this book". So, my mom and I continue to give this book out to women who have started the journey of breast cancer treatment and survivorship. I guess you can't have any higher recommendation than from a breast cancer fighter!
A must-have book for women on the breast cancer journey of faith. I read this devotional daily and find great comfort, encouragement and inspiration in the readings. Thank you Ms. Nelson for sharing your experiences and the Biblical words of comfort.
I'm 42 and was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2004. I received this book midway through chemo, right when I needed it. It has ministered to me and allowed me to share with others. Mary has done a wonderful job expressing this journey/adventure.On p. 45, 46 she writes I learned something about patience during this journey that seemed to last forever. When trouble comes, we can turn to God in faith. We can lay all our burdens down at His feet and trust Him to carry the entire load. But faith is only the first step. Faith paves the way for God to step in and take control of our problems. God will use the tie to develop our patience and strengthen our character (Jm 1:2-4). It's the gift of patience that keeps the path clear until the results we are waiting for are evident. It gives our faith a chance to work. When your patience is tested, it's easy to throw away your confident trust in the Lord. It's hard to stay on the path when the victory is so slow in coming. But if you submit to God's timing He will honor you. He knows the best time to change your circumstances."
