In his introduction to this volume, Dr. Barclay explains why the first three Gospels are called "synoptic," how they came to be written, and why many scholars believe that Mark was the first. Barclay's interpretation of the Gospel is full of wisdom, and it offers clear and captivating insight from beginning to end. Having picked up one section to study, the reader will find it difficult to stop reading until the whole volume is completed.

However, I was so-hoping to use copying and printing feature - in preparation of those lessons, but only discovered after purchase, that I could not. In fact, this is less useful than the print edition (which I also have) - which can be copied or scanned (and re-printed), providing me with a more usable script for lessons, and study!
Jane Sharpe5 Stars Out Of 5November 13, 2009Jane SharpeFor a Christian, there is no better teacher than William Barclay. His books give wonderful insight to the scriptures. I'[ve read several of his commentaries on the gospels and the one on Romans, and so far as I'm concerned they rate at least 10 stars! They are also excellent guidelines for use in Sunday School discussion classes.
