I definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy inspirational Amish fiction. Just realize that Goodbye to Yesterday is the first of six parts and therefore short.

Luke put money aside while he was working, but after months of not finding a different job, they start to worry about their finances. The stress puts pressure on the couple. One day Luke gets a call from his uncle in Indiana. His uncle wants to sell his business and offers to sell it to Luke and teach Luke the new trade. Luke needs to travel from Pennsylvania to Indiana in the winter. Meredith does not want him to go. But they know this is their chance for Luke to provide for them financially.
Luke travels by bus to his uncles in the winter and the weather is bad. While eating at a diner during one of the bus stops, Luke is seen by a homeless drug addict, who recognizes Luke as being Amish and thinks Luke would be an easy target.
Goodbye to Yesterday is the first of six parts in The Discovery saga written by Wanda E. Brunstetter. I really like this book. It was a easy book to read in one evening. Even though it is a short book, 121 pages, it is a very good story and you want to go right on to book 2 to see what happens.
When I first got this series I was disappointed with the size of the books. But they do make a great book to carry in the purse to read while waiting for appointments. I purchased this series as a set on sale so the price was really good.

As a fan of Little House on the Prairie, it seemed like a place lost in time. Amish books have grown in popularity and I have enjoyed many of Wanda Brunstetter's books, many of them being series books. These novellas were especially unique in that they were very short books that end with a cliff hanger that leads right into the next book. Originally published 6 months apart, I enjoyed being able to read them as one complete novel back to back. I expect that they will probably be released as one complete novel in the future.
Goodbye to Yesterday is the opening novella that sets up the series. Because of this, it is one of the slower novels. But, it is the one that makes you fall in love with the characters and ties the whole series together. More than any other book in the set, this is the one that made me want to read them all. In this book we are introduced to newlyweds, Luke and Meredith, whose financial struggles are putting a strain on their marriage. Out of desperation, Luke decides to travel to Indiana to take on a new trade that would give him job security. But, during his travels he meets with a disaster that keeps the couple separated for over a year (and 5 more books).
Q: how long are the books for the new wanda brunstetter series?
