Bask in two historical romances from sunny California. A willful widow and a determined merchant find themselves fighting for a town’s business—and against their growing attraction. Who will win this contest of wills? A Harvey Girl waits on doughboys and meets a local horse breeder whom the townsfolk have branded a coward and profiteer. Will pride keep them forever apart? Are they destined for golden love, or will the sun set on romance?
Award-winning novelist Keli Gwyn is a California native who lives in a Gold Rush-era town at the foot of the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains. Her stories transport readers to the 1800s, where she brings historic towns to life, peoples them with colorful characters, and adds a hint of humor. She fuels her creativity with Taco Bell® and sweet tea. When she’s not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two skittish kitties.
Even though ERICA VETSCH has set aside her career teaching history to high school students in order to homeschool her own children, but her love of history hasn't faded. Erica's favorite books are historical novels and history books, and one of her greatest thrills is stumbling across some obscure historical factoid that makes her imagination leap. She’s continually amazed at how God has allowed her to use her passion for history, romance, and daydreaming to craft historical romances that entertain readers and glorify Him. Whenever she’s not following flights of fancy in her fictional world, Erica is the company bookkeeper for her family’s lumber business, a mother of two, wife to a man who is her total opposite and yet her soul mate, and an avid museum patron.
IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyed the second story the most!October 23, 2013IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I only gave this book 4/5 stars. I did like both stories but the first one was not as entertaining as the second. Both stories have likable characters and are well written. The first story just seemed like every other story I have read lately. A woman works to show just how independent she is all the while falling for the man she is trying to impress. The second story had more of a realistic main character in Meghan. She is likable and you can't help but cheer for her as she seeks a job and develops relationships. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys shorter stories that have quickly developing plots.
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

I absolutely loved both stories!! The charming small town where even your competition is running to help you, verses the prejudice small town who is ready to crush you at each corner!! And yet two very amazing love stories.
A Bride Opens Shop in El Dorado, California
Ellie is coming to El Dorado to enter partnership with Miles in mercantile business. Only Miles knows nothing about it and refuses to partner with a woman after being terribly disappointed by his late wife. So, our very ambitious heroine instead rents the only place available in town-- across from Miles' business to open her own. Woman--sick of being controlled by men and filled with ambition to best them at their own game. Man--filled with hatred and distrust of women, who only want to profit off men, and set out to eternal bachelorhood!! They are business adversaries and yet magic happens and boom!! You got one of the best captivating romance novels out there!! Readers enjoy!! I know you will because it hit my fave list from the first pages and I am so getting the hard copy and reading it again!!
A Bride Sews With Love in Needles, California
As a rule I don't read about war.. I hate the suffering and the sacrifice. But this novel took my breath away!! Meghan is out to prove that she is responsible and courageous so she applies to be Harvey Girl. She wants attention and recognition. Caleb is doing his best to avoid town and its people as much as he avoids war. They are so contrary, he is believed to be a coward and she believes courage is served in uniform. She is irish who leaps before she thinks, he is very laid back who measures 7 times before cutting. But she had the greenest beautiful eyes that take Caleb's breath away and give him hope. Secrets, ambitions, rules, prejudice, stubbornness, heat, one huge fight and a kiss that changes all!! I loved this book!! Some parts I want back and re-read several times just for enjoyment!!
The next book I read will have some high standards to conquer.
Amazing people, touching stories, real emotions and true love!!
Disclaimer: I got an advanced copy of this book from Barbour Publishing, through NetGalley, in exchange for my honest opinion.
Hope you enjoy your reading :)
