I received a complimentary copy of this adorable book by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker from the publisher and of course, the timing could not have been better. Just a few days before, my 9 year old son asked Jesus into his heart!
This book of promises has been a perfect fit as my son makes his way through life as a Christian--trying desperately to understand that all of the answers he needs come from God. Of course, the easiest way to access this information is to read the Bible. This nice little book is 127 pages of wonderful compliment to the Bible.
With verses taken from the International Children's Bible, you can show your boys that God has made promises for everything from when you are tempted to do the wrong thing (1 Peter 5:8-9) to praising God (Isaiah 12:2). With this book of promises, you can teach your boys the basics with this fun resource and eventually, to turn to the Bible for the answers.

"God's promises for boys" is a great book for boys that want advice from Bible verses about daily situations in life such as when: "You Want to Be Cool," "You Are Thankful," "God's Grace," "Being a Good Brother," "Stay Strong!" and many other topics.
Each topic has a couple sentences of advice and then three to four passages from the Bible that go along with that topic.
The illustrations are simple, bright, colorful and fun!
I think this is a wonderful book for boys to look up verses that are applicable to different situations.
It is fun and to the point.
Kids do not always have a long-lasting attention span and this book is perfect for that.
They can quickly find wisdom from the Bible in a neat little book

This is gift type book for boys. It gives topics, like "Making Each Day Count," "Obeying Your Parents," and "God Needs Boys." Each topic gets a two page spread (this is a smaller, hardcover book.) Under the topic heading, a short rhyme introduces the idea. Then appropriate Bible verses are listed with fun illustrations. This would be nice for family devotions, if you want to add your own discussion and prayers. You could choose a topic, read all the verses or just choose a few, then talk about it and pray together. I think it could be a great spark for family discussions. It is visually appealing with a contemporary color scheme (that appeals to me) and fun illustrations that will appeal to little boys.I think pre-readers to early elementary would most like this book.I'm looking forward to giving this to my nephews.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their book review bloggers program.
