Dear (your name here),
I love you.
What if you had a letter from the Lord of the Universe, written specifically to you with unique insight into who He is and what He has planned for you?
What if you could enter into a real conversation with the God of the Bible?
WELL, YOU DO. AND YOU CAN.
The greatest love letters of all time did not come from the pen of a playwright or the mouth of a poet. They werent formed on warped sheets of music or with the quills of romantics. These letters come from the Word of the Almighty God.
Based on 66 Love Letters Dr. Larry Crabbs intimate conversation with Godthis devotional experience offers the chance to completely change the way you think about love.
Give yourself forty days to fall head-over-heels in love with the Savior who calls you by name and welcomes you into a sweeping, incredible relationship with Him. Discover the language and story of true love as it was originally intendedpersonal letters from God to you.

amandaicedteaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful book about a beautiful book.July 6, 2014amandaicedteaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love this book. I have told many people about it. I have a hard time reading the letters in this book without crying, most days. Crying for joy, though. These are beautiful summations of the books they're about. Very nicely and powerfully worded, and also straight to the point. I didn't expect as much but I was very pleasantly surprised.
Archie IsibPhAge: 18-24Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5a must read!August 22, 2012Archie IsibPhAge: 18-24Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5One book made up of 66 individual writings... much like the Bible itself. After making this jump, the stories came to life... I learn something new every time as I am a new creation every time I read it. It is like an onion and the layers are peeling away and I am able to see and learn more about our amazing God.I would encourage anyone to read this book, and to enjoy reading Gods love letters to His people. The only problem I had with the book is I thought sometimes there were putting words into God mouth. It should only be used as a tool to help with reflecting & understanding of the written word of God. I loved the title and the cover, and I really wanted to just sit and immerse myself in the love of God.I feel this book has rooted me in the word of God and I will be reading it for years to come over and over again. It would make a great devotional book though.
Teresa F.4 Stars Out Of 5November 11, 2011Teresa F.Quality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4God's Love Letters to You - A 40-Day Devotional Experience by Dr. Larry Crabb is just that - a poetic devotional experience. Each days devo begins with God says...which I find very comforting as it highlights God's TRUTH. The author highlights God's promises to His children. Reflection questions are thought provoking and insightful. Prayer and meditation is in my opinion what you will need to honestly answer the questions the author puts forth. To truly get a sense or understanding of what the author is trying to explain-reading the corresponding book of the Bible that relates to each days devotion is needed which may be a reason the author wrote this book. The devo's covering the books of Ruth, 2nd Chronicles and Daniel were the one's that spoke to me the strongest. This book is geared to adults, I would recommend. It is worth your time.
Blue RaindropWichita, KsAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Nice quick devotional on God's expressions of loveOctober 11, 2011Blue RaindropWichita, KsAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4God's Love Letters to You is a 40 day devotional by Larry Crabb, and the latest book that I've received from Thomas Nelson for reviewing it. It says that it's actually based on another of his books called 66 Love Letters, however, I haven't read that book, so it was new to me, and I can't really say anything on comparison.
Each devotional takes lists a particular book of the bible, and has a verse from it, and then has a short passage written from the perspective of God as to ways that his love is shown through that book, in the form of a note from him.
It then has a few questions to think about, and a prompt to start you off in prayer.
These are a quick read, shorter than I had expected_ probably about 5 minutes for most people depending how much time you spend on the questions.
A lot of them were really interesting though_ ways that I really hadn't looked at different happenings as ways he was showing his love.
acgiffordCoeur d'Alene, IDAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Short isn't always shallowOctober 6, 2011acgiffordCoeur d'Alene, IDAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Larry Crabb has been one of my absolute favorite authors since I read Shattered Dreams: God's Unexpected Pathway to Joy. To me, Larry is a modern-day version of Oswald Chambers. He writes the kind of stuff that the average person like me may have to sometimes read two or three teams to really get the full meaning of what he is saying_which is my way of saying, "He's deep" - and I like deep. Honestly, as much as I love to read, I don't have time to waste on mediocre writing, and Larry Crabb doesn't waste a word. The reason I truly love God's Love Letters to You, is because it takes that depth and maturity and puts it in 40 bite size pieces. I feel there is a huge need on the bookshelf for devotion books that are short and deep. It is an uncommon combination, which leads the average Christian to hold a false belief that short equals shallow.
God's Love Letters to You walks the reader through 40 of the 66 books of the Bible, showing how God's message is the same throughout His entire Word. "I love you. I care intensely about you. But I won't spare your feelings and your comfort when it comes to making you holy. I care more about your soul than I do how you feel today."
This would be an incredible gift for someone who is going through a really tough time in their life and need to hear uncompromised truth, in a loving shell. Larry's other writings are good for that too, but again, the bite-sized format of God's Love Letters to You makes it manageable reading for someone who is really in the thick middle of time-consuming and brain-draining circumstances that would otherwise keep them from taking the time to read.
