We loved this book!
We used this book for my 3rd grader and felt it was very comprehensive. Sections were presented in an easy to follow format which allowed her to work independently, and they were easy to discuss afterward. We used the demonstrations in several chapters and she enjoyed them all. After several tries to find the right curriculum for us in other subjects last year, I'm glad to have this series to look forward to for awhile!

GREAT book!
Very factual Biblically based book, easy to read with lovely illustrations. The supporing experiments- and some are not really experiments and only take a minute or two- help to reinforce what has already been read. I like that in the fourth grade, my daughter is able to read this on her own, grasp the concepts and explain them to me in such a way that I know she really "gets" it. Because the chapters are short, we can easily read more-and have!- because her interest is so high. One caveat: I would not recommend this book for middle shool. It is definately written for elementary users. Get the three part series and enjoy a fun year in science!

Excellent book and material and a great supplement to your curriculum.Although this book is written with homeschool families in mind, it seems that homeschoolers will find the writing "young" for 6th - 8th grade. From our experience, the writing of the book is well done, engaging and nice to look at.However in my opinion, the book is better suited to 2nd through 5th grade levels, not 3rd through 8th as it suggests. With that in mind, I did not give it a full five stars although someone's misjudgement for age level probably should not affect a rating- it still is a factor we all use.I recommend the book and the rest in the series.

The idea behind this series is wonderful; unfortunately, the execution fails miserably. The revised version while tremendously better than the original is still a complete waste of money. The depth is about right for a 1st - 3rd grade level. The experiments, and that term is used very loosely with these books are usually cheesy, even to kids. The work that it would take to adapt these books to use for a child above the 3rd grade would be tremendous and the end result would be that you maybe used the table of contents as an outline. Even though the depth is appropriate for around the 1st - 3rd grade level the interest and fun really isnt there. While these books are written from a Christian perspective even that isnt done as well as it could or should be. Please dont waste your money these. For children in 4th - 8th grade there is a wonderful series that includes Exploring the World of Physics, Exploring the World of Biology, and others. These are wonderful, interesting, factual, Christian science books. Bob Jones and Apologetics are also excellent choices for all grade levels.
