Publisher's Description

In this book, furry friends reveal that even the biggest and bravest of God's creatures feel frightened sometimes. This comforting story allows parents to build stronger bonds with their children while reminding readers of all ages that fear, loneliness, and hopelessness can be alleviated when we put our trust in God. The story ends with an easy-to-remember Bible verse that teaches children about God's love. 'Fear not, for I am with you' (Isaiah 41:10).

Author Bio

Julie Cantrell was born in Louisiana, where she grew up running barefoot over fire ant beds, swimming with alligators, and eating crawfish. Today, she lives with her husband and two spirited children in Mississippi, hallowed ground for many famous authors.

Any child from 4 to 7 years old who loves to visit the zoo will have a fantastic time with God Is with Me Through the Night by Julie Cantrell. Taking for granted that youngsters get scared at night on occasion, Cantrell shares Isaiah 4:10, "Do not fear, for I am with you." She then uses photographs of both domestic and wild animals to demonstrate that children are loved by their parents, siblings, and most of all by God. For example, when she writes that as a family, "We laugh," she shows a photo of two dolphins with their mouths wide open. When she writes, "We snuggle," she shows a photo of a male and female lion cuddling their two young cubs. Other times there are full sentences, such as, "I know I am not alone," accompanied by a photo of a huge family of baby rabbits climbing all over each other.

Drawing on biblical examples, Cantrell reminds the readers that God protected Daniel from the lions. Many of the photographs are extremely comical, as when the narrator says, "I can say out loud, 'I am loved!'" and there is a photograph of a big-eyed monkey with his lips puckered and his neck extended as he screeches.

This is the kind of book that young readers can practice their reading with, while also being reminded of God's care and protection. – Dr. Dennis E. Hensley, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
