This book helps one think with the right (biblical) perspective on life and suffering. I think this is especially important in the me centered, pampered Christianity we tend to have in the United States. Excellent book.

Excellent, excellent book for those who are hurting. I read it several times after the loss of my sister and it truly helped. I bought 4 more copies to give to my grieving family and my Pastor.

This is definitely the best book I've read on trials and suffering. I wasn't going through a struggle at the time, I was reading it to relate to someone who was, but the teaching was invaluable for not only trying times, but our overall perspective as believers. You won't be disappointed....but be ready to be challenged.

I absolutely loved this precious book! It left me dazed and filled with awe for my wonderful Lord and Savior. It answered a lot of questions I personally had about suffering in the Christian life...and how to endure under it's constant pain and pressure. What else can I say? It's one of the best books I have ever read. Ever! Buy 2 copies. One to bless yourself with. And one to give away to bless someone else.

This is the only nonfiction book I've ever read in which I NEVER used my highlighter ----- because every passage was so compelling, and so beautifully woven together as a whole, that I could never seem to find one sentence or paragraph that stood out from the rest. So, consider this entire tome highlighted. Joni and Steve tackle the hardest questions that people, Christians and nonChristians alike, ask of the Almighty: In the face of suffering, Why? They answer it with a powerful theology and a winsome sweetness that is surely a fragrant offering to our Lord and a balm to hurting, questioning believers. I hope everyone who has ever held a grudge against God for wrongs perceived done against them or their loved ones will give this book a chance. This is another book I need to buy again because I gave away my first copy and cannot stand to be without it.
