Have you ever wondered just how much God loves us? This cute children's book illustrates just how big God's love is for each and every one of us. While my daughter is still a little too young to understand the words, she loved the illustrations in this book. This story uses concepts every one can relate to in order to show the magnitude of God's love. For example, God's love is "higher than the moon in a starless sky" and "louder than the cheering of a football crowd."
I think Dandi Daley Mackall did an excellent job with this book. I want my children to always know God's love, and this book will be a great way to introduce that love to them. It's an easy read, and one children of all ages can comprehend. Children will be drawn in my David Hohn's amazing illustrations as well. This is definitely a book you should read with your family.

Book Review: I have two girls, ages 3 and 5. I sat down with my 5 year old first and let her look through the pictures before I read the book to her. She was extremely excited. "The little boy is having adventures, mommy." This is what she told me when I asked her what she thought the book was about. Unfortunately, once I read the book she seemed disappointed that it wasn't an adventure story after all - though she still loved the pictures.
As a parent, I think the reassuring words about God's love are very sweet. It does seem aimed primarily at boys (treasures, cowboys, football, airplanes, circus pics and more), but the message is rather universal. However, because there is no actual story, but rather more of a poem about God's love, my children likely wouldn't ask for this book to be read to them over and over. Once or twice through and they want you to read them a princess story or Good Night Moon instead. (The latter is a favorite of my youngest.) It left me wondering if a biblical parable about an adventurous boy would reach this age group better - even though it is a wonderful message.
Cover/Illustration Review: The artwork throughout this book is gorgeous. David Holm is very talented, and my children were absolutely mesmerized by his drawings. Both girls enjoyed pointing at the pictures and trying to figure out what sort of adventures the little boy was having. The sneezing kitty was a favorite for my oldest.
I too love the illustrations in this book. They are rich in detail and imagination. I looked forward to turning every page to see what beautiful work was on the next page. This is a great gift book due to its beauty ... and strongly positive message about God's love.

What an excellent book! This book has great illustrations and captured the attention of my two year old son. I love how the book relates God love for us to everyday items that children can relate to. For instance quote from book "Tell me, please, is the Lord's love wide? Wider than a semitruck from side to side." A great read for our son. This book is excellent for a little boy although it could be read to all little children! I would recommend this to families of small children especially with little boys.
"God Loves Me More Than That" by Dandi Daley Mackall is the first children's book I have had the privilege of writing a review on. David Hohn wonderfully illustrates this book, bringing the book to life for children. Each page is filled with a captivating question and answer along with an eye-catching picture depicting how much God does love us. It is written and illustrated in a way that will keep the child's attention while answering questions.
My Thoughts: I cannot wait to share this with my grandkids. The 9 year old will be a little old for it, but I think he will enjoy the illustrations and reading it to his little sister. I am sure it will become one of her favorites! This book is a perfect size and would make a great gift for young children or grandchildren.
