I was looking forward to Dr. Evans' insight into this very familiar passage of Scripture. Due to the size of the book, 96 pages, I was expecting a quick read, but was slowed by the way he opened up new insight into each passage that I had memorized as a child.
Evans devotes a chapter to each verse and provides an exposition into the Scripture and shows how it applies to our everyday lives. While there were no real "wow" moments in the book, I was very pleased to be reminded that this Psalm can be more than just a source of comfort during times of trouble in our lives.
This book would make a great resource for a Sunday school/small group study.

Compact yet powerful
Tony Evans uses a small book, God Is More Than Enough, to do an indepth study on one of the most well-known chapters in the Bible, and shows the incredible relationship God wants to have with YOU. Psalm 23 is such a part of our culture, but too often seems relegated to being quoted during times of serious illness...or funerals. However, Tony Evans leads the reader on a discovery of the joy and peace to be found when applying the words of this poem to many aspects of your life --and to the Shepherd who is able to meet you where you are and provide all you need.
God Is More Than Enough should have just been a quick read for me, but it was filled with so many nuggets of Truth that I chose to savor and absorb the healing and comforting words as he explained verse by verse just exactly how it pertains to my life. Whether you know nothing about these verses or if this is a portion of Scripture you memorized decades ago...there is much to be gained as you take a look at Psalm 23 through this book. The compact size makes it perfect for carrying with you to peruse when you have a few moments, to do slowly as a small group or private devotions, or to give as a gift. For the ones who are not huge fans of reading, this is a wonderful size. Great book and one I am sure to treasure.

Not amazing, but good
I love to hear Tony Evans preach. I had the opportunity to hear him in person at the Pastor's Conference at First Baptist in Jacksonville, Florida a couple of years ago. And, of course, I've heard him many times on the radio. But this is the first Tony Evans book that I've read. His greatest strength in preaching is also his greatest strength in writing: the ability to illustrate great truths in a simple and understandable way. No doubt about it, the illustrations and stories are the best part of this book.
The book is not long - 90 pages. And Tony Evans does a great job of breaking down Psalm 23 into bite-sized morsels that even the most Bible-illiterate Christians could easily comprehend. That being said, there is really not too much in the book that will knock your socks off. Like I said, the illustrations of truth are excellent, but the average church-going Christian will not be surprised by any of the content. I hate to phrase it this way! It sounds like I'm saying, "Oh, it's the same ol' boring Psalm 23 interpretation." Trust me, the principles found in Psalm 23 are deep and wondrous, and I really enjoyed the way Tony Evans used the phrase "God is more than enough..." to introduce each new chapter in his book. All I'm saying is, if you are looking for a mind-bending, never-heard-before exposition of Psalm 23, you won't find it here. But then again, it is always good to be reminded of the great truths that we take for granted so easily.
In all, I would give the book 3.5 stars out of 5.

The book is small in size and in the number of pages but donâÂÂt disregard it because it seems to simple. It proves that great inspiration doesnâÂÂt always involve an in-depth study. The book was easy to read and understand; I found Tony Evansâ writing to demonstrate a genuine Christ-like attitude and his book was a joy to read and is a definite keeper.
