I found the epub very readable, much better than pdf on my iPod touch; the words were definitely bigger, although I did turn pages frequently. I found it funny that it took turning 3 or 4 pages to advance one page in the book. The convenience was well worth it and I like the lighting. So much for book format.
The contents themselves were very encouraging. It may be a small book, but it is packed with strengthening contemplations. Evans takes a shepherds approach to the 23rd Psalm. Each segment of the Psalm is broken down and related to the actions and attitudes of a shepherd. I've read similar works, but none quite so clear. Visions of the shepherd using his staff to pull a sheep from danger or his rod to guide sleep back to their right path. The most clear picture I have is of "goodness and mercy" as sheep dogs following after the wayward ones. Soon after reading the book, we sang a song at church that contained "surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life" and I just envisioned those dogs catching after sheep. It was so sweet thinking of the imagery and how our Lord cares so much more for us, even when we don't see it.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

As I was reading this concise, meaninful book on the Twenty Third Psalm, I had to make notes. Now, I don't read a lot of this type, I usually take a fiction novel, and learn my lessons through that, and I don't remember ever feeling I needed to make notes as I was reading. One of the things I wanted to remember is a thought I read in a blog, and I can't remember where it was or who wrote it, or i'd give the credit here. The thought was that God loves us enough that He writes our name on His hand to keep it ever in front of Him.
This book is short enough - 50 pages, aprox. With 6 chapters, one chapter for each verse, you can read it all in one sitting, or divide it up and read abit at a time. As I was reading, I would latch onto a phrase or sentence of Tony's and say . . . aha that is what that verse means. That is how I can apply this Psalm to my life.
The Twenty-third psalm is well known, and easily memorized. That, together with this book is enough to live for God, for God really is more than enough for us in whatever circumstance we find ourselves.
Although I read the ebook, and recommend it for your electronic reader, I would also want the print version so I can remind myself daily of these truths.
I received this ebook free from Multnomah Publishers through their booksneeze program. I was not required to give a postive review, just an honest one, which I have done. The opinions are my own.
