When I was a new mama . . .
Boy, does this bring back memories! Being a book lover, I began to read to my son when he was only months old, and then carried on with my granddaughters as they were born. This story is exactly the kind that I liked to share with them.
âÂÂGod Gave Us You,â is a very sweet little board book written by Lisa Tawn Bergren and beautifully illustrated. It is about a Papa and Mama polar bear and their Little Cub. One night as Mama was tucking Little Cub into bed, she asked, âÂÂMama, where did I come from?â There follows a delightful and loving conversation where Mama answers questions from Little Cub and explains that Little Cub was a truly treasured gift from God. Papa and Mama were so excited and even the angels in heaven were celebrating because Little Cub was growing inside Mama. As MamaâÂÂs tummy got bigger and bigger, Papa talked to Little Cub and sang to her because he wanted Little Cub to be born knowing his voice. They prayed every night to God that Little Club would have straight bones and a strong heart, but most of all that someday Little Club would love God. Mama continued with the story and when she came to the end, Little Cub went happily to sleep because she knew that God had given her to parents who wanted her and loved her very much. The story is so touching that I believe if you read it to your child, he or she will truly feel like a gift from the Lord.

A decent book.
God Gave Us You
Written by: Lisa Tawn Bergren
Illustrated by: Laura J. Bryant
Published by: WaterBrook Press
I am excited to give God Gave Us You along with God Gave Us Two to my little nephew for Easter, because they are both special, sentimental, books.
The story:
The story starts with the little bear asking the always scary question to parents, "where did I come from?" After that the book is filled with the mama bear answering his question in a beautiful child friendly way, telling of how God gave the little bear to his mommy and daddy, and how excited her and his daddy were for his arrival.
Note, I just realized I have been calling the little bear a "he", but in actuality the book calls her a "she".
The illustrations:
Are cute scenes of the bear family.
Pictures of polar bear angels were a little strange to me... but to each his own, I guess.
How strong is the book?
This is a hardcover book that is relatively strong, but my nephew hasn't gotten hold of it yet.
Who the book is for:
This would make a great gift for a new baby, or for a baby shower. This book is also good for reading to children once they are old enough to start asking a lot of questions.
What I liked:
God Gave Us You is a sweet story of parental love.
What I didn't like:
As I stated above, personally I didn't like the polar bear angels.
My conclusion:
This is an excellent book and will make a great gift. I give God Gave Us You 5 out of 5 stars!

We own a few of the "God Gave Us" book, and we love everyone of them! These books are great tools to teach your child that God made them special no matter what. I love our new "God Gave Us You" book because it is small enough to take along with us and read anytime. The art by Laura J. Bryant is beautiful, as always! My daughter loves the pictures of the polar bears. "God Gave Us You" is an easy-to-understand book that teaches kids that are each treasured gifts from the Lord.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone I know with kids! This would be a great book for new parents!
