Do you know a teen struggling with depression? Anxiety? Rage? Drugs and alcohol? Cutting? Suicidal thoughts? Ask anyone who works with teens and they'll tell you these problems have reached epidemic levels, and they cross all spectrums of our society-kids from all types of homes, living in all types of neighborhoods, attending all types of churches. Clearly, our teens need help and guidance to navigate the rough waters of current teen culture.

Cherie Fresonke's book, Go in Peace for Teens, helps teens identify the deep heart hurts driving these self-destructive behaviors and gives them tangible, step-by-step, life-changing help in learning how to give these hurts to God so He can heal them. She teaches teens how to find God's peace in their lives so they no longer feel stuck and hopeless.

Tell us a little about yourself.  I have many hats. I am the daughter of the King of kings. The wife of my best friend. The mother of my two daughters and two son-in-laws. The overseer of the Women's Counseling Ministry at Calvary Chapel Murrieta (CA). A missionary. The founder and director of the Truth and Hope Foundation in Sofia, Bulgaria. Plus I love to travel and teach at women's retreats, luncheons, purity seminars, or any place the Lord opens the door! In my free time, I enjoy working in the garden, playing with my animals, and quilting.

What was your motivation behind this project?  It breaks my heart every time I see a teenager destroying their life. So many of our teens today are struggling with self-destructive behaviors such as depression, anxiety, rage, rebellion, drugs, alcohol, cutting and suicidal thoughts (to name just a few). Yet, we know that God's Word is all-sufficient! Unfortunately, most of the teens today don't believe that. So after many years of counseling and discipling teens, plus training others in how to disciple, I knew that it was time to write this book to provide this tool to help teens be set free! And more important, for each teen to become all that God intends them to be.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  For teenagers, it is my prayer that they will take the truth of God's Word and apply it to their lives so that they can become all that God intends them to be. For Parents, it is my prayer that this book will help to give them insight as to why their teen may be struggling the way they are. And to give them effective ways to pray. For Counselors or Disciplers, it is my prayer that this book will be a tool to be used to minister to a hurting teen. The book is written in a way that it can be used for personal study, for one-on-one discipleship, and/or for parents looking for hope. Many are even using it with groups of teens as a Bible study.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I love God's sense of humor! I have been teaching and counseling the biblical concepts found within the book since 1993. However, when I sat down to write the teen book I wanted to use word pictures that would capture the teen's attention and give them something to remember the rest of their lives so that they can walk in victory. God did just that! The word pictures He gave are fun and unforgettable! Perhaps the way that I have personally been most impacted by working on this project is that when there is an area in my life in which God wants me to change and grow He continually brings these word pictures to my mind in such a fun and loving way that its easy to admit my failings to God, give them to Him, and be set free!

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My hero is Corrie ten Boom.
