The saying goes "When you marry, you don't just marry an individual, you marry a whole family." But more specifically, you are marrying the influences that family has had on your spouse. Our families have shaped our views on everything from religion to finances to sex, and, whether helpful or harmful, these views are brought to our marriage and can unknowingly affect it.
- learn what "ghosts' they bring to marriage
- examine their family backgrounds
- determine guidelines for their own marriage

Kristen5 Stars Out Of 5May 20, 2008KristenMy husband and I read a TON of books before we got married, and this one was by far the most practical. We've been married for six years, and I am so glad to have found the book again. I'm purchasing a copy for my little sister who's getting married next year!
Crystal Noel4 Stars Out Of 5February 13, 2008Crystal NoelThis is an awesome book. The exercises are fun. My fiance and I both have them and work on them together over. I look forward to each time we use them and feel like we have found out little things about each other that we just didn't know. If your engaged get it. It's so worth it.
Sonja Wittich5 Stars Out Of 5January 14, 2008Sonja WittichWe used this book more than 15 years ago and it spurred hours of conversation in areas we didn't even think needed discussion. It gave us a great foundation for problem solving over the years along with an understanding of why we do what we do. We continue to recommend it to couples whenever the opportunity arises.
Delores Stone LPC5 Stars Out Of 5December 9, 2007Delores Stone LPCAs a counselor I have used this book for a dating manual on how to get to know the person you are dating---even before marriage is a question. It gives information on things to discuss in order to know each other. I would like the book retitled: Knowing the person your dating---before marriage becomes an issue!!I have used it for dating conversation training, pre-marriage counseling, engagement gifts, and help for young marriages in communication problems.
